JAX-CDG/AMS Delta One for Only 116K SkyMiles

Stumbled across this when looking for award flights ex Florida to Europe in April. This 116k miles seems to be ex-JAX but not MCO/GNV/TPA/DAB. Month-long award chart shows it several days a week (Tue/Wed/Sat at least) for at least April 2020. It may extend beyond or previous to that. Somewhat unusual routings (JAX-ATL-CVG-CDG for example) but a 50% discount is worth looking at if you need to get to Europe. [I was able to add on $99 OW fares on OAL out and return with plenty of connection time.]

It's a sad day when 116K for a one-way business class ticket is considered a good deal.

Still, it's better than the absurd 200K+ tickets I've seen through ATL recently.

Oh. Well in that case, excellent.

Sky Miles is my primary FFP because I fly MU very often, and Eastern Miles is even worse, unless you are top tier (i.e. free upgrades on their 77Ws to PEK would be sweet).

But, I honestly don't pay attention to status at all anymore. I make gold some years, and platinum others. I used to do pseudo mileage runs in December in order to level up, but the differential value between gold and platinum is pretty much worthless. I've never been diamond, but 4 SWUs per year is not an enticing draw, especially when cash J fares on Chinese airlines are so cheap these days.

In terms of redemptions, I have pretty much given up on long-haul. While 116k to Europe from JAX in J may well be a good deal in the current environment, JAX-BOS for ~8k is actually a really good use of miles.

That ticket was for my wife, booked today when the return availability opened. I leave the same day but return 2 weeks later. Hoping that price (and a seat) will still be available when I book. But if not, they are asking about $2700something for it which is still not all that bad.

I see fairly wide availability for many spots in Europe for under 130,000 roundtrip in D1.

There is currently a summer sale for D1 to Europe through Sep 6th for 128K RT (CSVR640 fare, 60-day advance, roundtrip booking, Saturday night stay). Are you seeing it for dates past Sep 6th? The lowest D1 award on DL metal is nominally 105K each way (CSV1050 award). AF/KL is 75K and VS is 86K (although there are multiple VS levels depending on advance purchase). The JAX awards look to be pretty much unique.

There's no seasonality restrictions on the JAX rewards. Just the 60-day advance and roundtrip with Saturday night stay requirement. You can find availability outside of those dates. There just has to be availability in the lowest level J award bucket. Fare is also valid for NCE, MXP, FCO, and VCE.
