Noumea how to with Skymiles

My husband is turning 35 at the end of August, and we had always talked about going to New Caledonia. But for many different reasons, mostly work related we never been able to. However he’s turning 35!! And my company finally granted me 2 weeks off between the end of Aug and the beginning of Sept. I want to surprise him on a romantic getaway to New Caledonia, I have tons and tons of Skymiles and Marriott and Hilton rewards points. I want to make this an unforgettable trip for the both of us. So I want to do D1 suites and the whole shebang. Any suggestions. Honestly I’m not very proficient when it comes down to skymiles award booking since all the bookings are done thru my office, and yea I do have a status, but when I’m not working I want to be as far as I can from a plane and an airport. so suggestions and help is very much appreciated.

Tons and tons would be how many miles? You seem to have no DL status, so I'm wondering if you realistically have enough for two (assuming that you want to sit together) D1 RTs.

Fly to Sydney then buy your ticket from there. Its a short flight from SYD (less than 4 hours).

From wikipedia the only Skyteam associated airline to Noumea is Aircalin. They do not fly to USA
DL fly's LAX to SYD so that is as close as you may get with D1 seats (if available). DL partner VA also fly's LAX-BNE/SYD/MEL {Australia}
Awards are on almost always only on native flights and not codeshares

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Ton...tional_Airport
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircalin
http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=LAX-SYD...U&MS=wls&DU=mi

Awards can start to become available 355/330 days out, depending on the ffp/airline. People start to look/book from then.
Your chances of finding 2 off business class awards over the pacific in few weeks time (August/Sept) are extremly low.

Consider these Award booking services - a list and some reviews

Does any SkyTeam member or DL partner fly to Noumea? That would be the first thing for the OP to check. If not, strategize to use miles to SYD or maybe SIN and purchase a ticket.

Since when has Aircalin been a member of SkyTeam?

OK Fair call
It uses the AF/KLM Flying Blue ffp--->https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KLM#Flying_Blue
Have not checked if is a partner of DL (Skyteam)

Could you try for flight on Air Tahiti Nui via PPT. That way you get 2 paradises.
Nice birthday gift.

Since you fly out of LAX, AF 76 to PPT connects with AirCalin 601 to Noumea. Flights in August operate Tues. & Thurs. going and Fri-Sun-Wed returning in Sep't.

Both are Flying Blue partners. Marriott points convert to Flying Blue miles 3:1. Hilton points convert to Flying Blue miles 10,000:1,000.

There are no AF flights showing availability to book with DL Skymiles or with money-and-miles in Aug. or Sept.

To redeem DL miles for D1 Suites on DL 41 LAX - SYD, every day in Aug. & Sept. has seats for redemption at around 700,000 miles per person RT, returning on DL 40 SYD-LAX. You could convert points to any number of airlines for the connection from SYD - NOU.

Remember that with separate tickets, it wouldn't be a connection and lots of time should be allowed for IROPs.

AF used to fly to NOU. Alas it is no more. :(
