where will bags need to be claimed? (>12 hour connection on intl itin)

Searched as a one way
2 stops
AUA-ATL-DTW-XXX
All on one PNR

Preclear TSA in Aruba so will not be claiming bags in ATL:

aruba to atl

2 hour layover

atl to dtw arrive 1130pm

13 hour layover

dtw to XXX

Will bags need to be claimed in DTW or will they be held overnight?

is it a function of time of day?
is it a function of layover length of time?

I believe you will need to collect your bags at DTW. The international C of C used to be clear in this point: >12 hours was a must-collect. But maybe not - ask when you check at AUA.

Bags will have to be claimed in DTW.

Wherever the overnight stopover is IMO. It is both a function of time of day as well as your 13 hour layover exceeding DL's max transfer time. All of this is relative as I've had overnight layovers <12 Hours, where they still forced me to collect my bag.

DTW. 6hrs you can short check, 12hrs you must. This applies for DL-DL connections. Everything between DL-OAL is 24 hrs.
