International Delta One Upgrade List
I'm a Delta Platinum checked in for an international flight. Delta doesn't offer complementary upgrades to Delta One on international flights, but there are two people on the Delta One upgrade list.

I'm curious how they got on the list? I'm assuming that must both have used Global Upgrade certs which haven't yet cleared, but wanted to check if I had missed some other eligibility (e.g. fare class)?

I only recently discovered that fare class impacts whether I get offered to upgrade with $ or miles, so now I'm wondering if there's other things I've missed.

Those would be Diamonds (or 360s) using GUCs.

Or passengers on higher economy fares or PS who are waitlisted for a mileage upgrade award.

Those waitlists get canceled before checkin opens. Only GUC waitlist for gate upgrades.

It could be a PM or lower who was DM or 360 last year and still has GUCs to use. GUCs can also be used for one traveling companion who need not be elite (but IIRC must have a SkyMiles number on the booking, just like for a free elite upgrade to domestic FC).

If I recall correctly, NRSA passengers (i.e. non-revs) awaiting seat assignment can appear on the list. I can't remember if this is in the app or on the airport GIDS, or both.

NRSA never appear on the upgrade list. They clear from standby to whatever is best seat available, regardless if that seat is J or Y.

IIRC they only appear on the upgrade list once they clear into the Delta One seats;

Thats how it looks but why do everybody already got a seat assigned while on the Stand by list?

If someone is on the standby list and shows a seat assignment, it means that the person has been cleared onto the flight.
