Delta One Check In LAX

I'm taking an international flight from LAX, connecting in JFK, both legs on Delta metal. My GUC has gone through for the JFK-Int'l leg, but I've not been upgraded to Delta One for the LAX-JFK leg.

Does anyone know if I can check my bags at the Delta One counter in LAX?

I don't know for certain, but in my experience when one has part of their flight in the highest level of service, they let you approach the desk anywhere. That has been domestic.

Guessing it'll be fine. I had F from LAX-SEA and D1 from SEA-NRT a couple months ago and no issues using the D1 counter in T2.

Just need a same day long haul ST/DL partner flight in J. Doesn't need to be from LAX.

As long as you have D1 seat, it's yours. Not too much excitement, aside from the little seating area if something goes wrong (like a delay and needing to get reticketed, which happened to me once. Was great to sit and have snacks/beverages, while the agent sorts everything out.). There's no special security lane, which hopefully will come with the new T2/3 consolidation as well as easy access to the consolidated SkyClub in the future.

I agree LAX D1 check-in is nothing exciting, but there is a special path to security if you can get someone to escort you. You go through the doors to the right of the agents and then upstairs to a backoffice corridor that eventually drops you at the pre-check entrance.

TBH, it's not faster than just walking there yourself via the public corridor.

Yes, you can. I did just that last year.

thanks for the info. Agreed that the check in is nothing too special, but my kids get a kick out of it.

Did you ask about it? I've never been offered it....but doesn't seem to helpful since T2/3 security is rarely even minorly busy...

Are you sure they still do this for security? I’ve used the D1 checkin several times over the past 6mo, as recently as last week, and I always have to walk over to the normal security enterance. I have Clear, so it’s never a big deal, but I’ve never been offered a D1 security path.

Yes, it is very nice when there is a problem. Took 30 minutes on a visa problem for my daughter going to Sidney. Took 40 minutes trying to get my wife's upgrade fix when going LAX-JFK-LHR when we were originally on LAX-BOS-LHR.

Since the move to T2, the only time it was ever proactively offered to me was when the person in front of me had just been escorted through. It was sort of awkward, as it wasn't really clear the agent wanted to offer it, but I had seen it, so he did. I wouldn't be surprised if they only usually offer it for "VIPs".

That said, I wouldn't go out of my way to do it again.

Got it. Yeah the walk to the main area isn't bad and with Clear it dumps you right at PreCheck.

I just received the Delta email reminding me of D1 check in at LAX, and it specifically says "You'll be escorted through a private corridor to the front of the security line." So it seems like anyone should be able to ask for this, even if it isn't proactively offered.
