Looking at the video, I do not believe that to be a maggot but some other bug. That bug appears to be crawling whereas maggots slither. That said Delta should have given $100 not $50 in compensation.

Delta probably reduced compensation as punishment for filming in portrait mode.

That does appear to be a maggot based on the movement and body contractions though.

Bugs in food, including salad, is fairly typical and producers will have some very small fraction of a % that is considered acceptable.

Acceptable unless you are the one with the bug in your salad.

I post the link without an excerpt because most folks really don't want to know. So take a look at your own discretion.

Maggots in your veg means they are fresh and pesticide free!

(As a sidenote I'm not offended by the company response, $50 voucher seems good enough to get a decent maggot free meal)

If it had been a roach, now...

This is why it's hard to eat salad if I don't clean it first.

Buts get into lettuce etc and unless cleaned well can often stay. it sucks it made it to his plate and maybe delta meant 500 and forgot a 0.

I know you meant bugs but but(t)s works too, in more ways than one.

DL forgot to cater meals on my flight a couple years ago and gave me the same $50 credit, so compensation was consistent. The article makes a point that the pax paid for F, well the last time I flew DTW to SEA in F, I was RU and the person next to me was surprised how cheap her ticket was - $150 premium over Y. Lastly, I see salmon on that salad, so unless the PAX had ordered a vegetarian meal, I don't see the problem. Bah humbug, lets move on to the next fake news of the day.
