New DL safety video?

I flew yesterday, 26JAN2019, and saw the old video starting with Ed Bastian followed by the “the first step to connection, is departure” talk.

now today, I’ve flown twice and seen this larger animated video that isn’t engaging at all. It’s off-brand. It’s like a poor imitation of Virgin America’s first safety video. What a snoozer.

I didn’t think they could get worse than Ed Bastian’s obvious ego-feeding “we are connected, we are the world” vanity videos. At least they used to attempt to be funny. Sometimes they were, sometimes they weren’t, but the effort was appreciated.

Delta should just go full Air New Zealand with their videos. Recruit celebs, a big name director, etc.

If they were to do the tribal dances on the videos I would watch.

I guess thr the point is to keep them fresh so people pay attention? I’ve flown enough to just realize how much longer the videos take than the manual demos.

I actually really liked the video where they where showing off the uniforms over the years, it's a shame they already switched it up.

I had the new, safety-card based one yesterday as well on SLC-SEA. Totally caught the F/As off guard, in fact - they didn't even know a new safety video was in the works; I heard them talking about it in the galley afterwards.

Kind of cute, I guess, but nothing to write home about in terms of overall creativity.

This was my favorite. Nice relaxing music, to the point, and no nauseating CEO intro.

I’ve always liked Delta’s videos - featuring real employees gave it a quiet confidence sort of feel, which is exactly what you want from a video presenting safety content. The most recent video had also switched back to more modern, on-brand music similar to the Deltalina era video, which I appreciated.

I’ll give it a fair shake when the video is posted somewhere, but I’ve never found animated videos to be very engaging, and often attempts at humor get in the way of actually conveying the content IMHO. (The VS video is a particular offender in that department.). Hopefully, if it isn’t very good, it will also be short lived and they’ll revert back to the old style relatively quickly.

Terrible video.

True blemish on the airline brand.

Job-killing animation takes away from the high quality and popular video productions they rolled out before.

Seems they're too embarrassed to even post the new video to YouTube.

They should stick to showing off their wonderful employees.
The uniform video was a complete home run.
I have met many DL crew who were so engaging that I specifically wrote to DL recommending them for a future safety video ever since the Deltalina viral clip made the rounds in 2008 https://www.ajc.com/news/who-deltali...tXwoDPjI91uwK/

This new one with the "best place is the safety card" or whatever is terrible.

it is amazing that Turkish Airlines and Air New Zealand can make such great ones, and DL just makes terrible videos. The one I really disliked was the uniform one, that was truly a snore fest.

Turkish just released a new one for the Lego Movie 2 (the original Lego Movie one they did was great)

Delta has one of the best ad agencies in the world, Wieden & Kennedy.

If the videos are getting worse, it's because someone on the client side is killing their better ideas.

Nope. You're all wrong.

THIS is the best airline safety video ever produced:
