My experience with DL twitter agents is as long as the pnr has the schedule change waiver code activated, they are willing to change anything. I’ve had 7 international sched changes in last 6 months and every time they were able to find better routing or better aircraft.
... Keep in mind though...when DL rebooks award tickets on other airline partners (non-DL flight number) due to schedule change, original award fare class must be available on new flight. If they are rebooking to Delta marketed flight number, specific award inventory doesn’t apply, there just has to be any available seat in your class of service (including J or Y inventory). the PM line agent said that even though it was DL codeshare on KL metal, IAD isn't a "listed alternate" for RIC (CHO, ORF, RDU, and BWI are; go figure) ... so I settled for BWI, in hopes that maybe another change will happen in the next couple months the good news, though, is that she was able to move us to AMS-ATL-BWI ... DL schedule change notifications go out ~30 days before travel.

I was just coming on to search and see if anyone had this problem. If I wouldn't have called today about something else I wouldn't have known that our flight was changed to a flight with a 7 hour layover (it was originally an hour). It worked to my benefit as I was calling to change to an earlier flight anyway but we definitely never received the original email. I check my spam regularly.
