Fire at ATL 1/15/19?

Flight inbound to ATL has been delayed. GA says fire on a taxiway. He said all flights were delayed for a 30-60 minute window.

Anyone else hearing the same?

I've heard that a tractor-trailer rig caught fire on I-285 that goes under the farthest south runway

Fire is on truck carrying chickens that stopped under the over pass with the runway crossing it on 285.

Chicken truck (the frozen kind) fire on highway that runs under fifth runway at ATL.

Local source with some videos: https://www.ajc.com/news/traffic/tra...vGb7CWJ9ilisL/

Also the interesting line that contradicts above: "Airport officials said they had not heard of the fire affecting any flights."

I think more likely, it would be blackened. :D

There was a ground stop at ATL with average 36 minute/max 76 minute delays. https://www.fly.faa.gov/adv/adv_othe...eDate=01/15/19 Which was followed up with a ground delay program for about an hour.

Was that frozen chicken destined for Chick-Fil-A at ATL airport? Having it pre-grilled should speed up the service.

OTOH, my flight was delayed because there was some chicken on the roadway?

FlyingForTheHalibut Jan 15, 2019 8:23 pm

I guess that explains why the chicken crossed the road.

g50 Jan 16, 2019 5:17 am

But why did the chicken cross the runway?

Did anyone from FT inform Catering about the varying options of Blackened, Roasted, Fried, and Greased Chicken underneath the Runway? ;)
