I think they actually said international widebodies. I could see a small fleet unmodified 767s operating premium transcon routes. The existing 1-2-1 J product is dated, but reasonable for a transcon.

Ya or even A330s. The existing 767 J product is pretty bad for TPAC

I am doing STR in June but likely will do go back to LHR until next year.

Up until the STR ticket, I have been avoiding the 764s like the plague.

From Delta News Hub today
  • HNL-HND would be operated twice daily using Delta’s Boeing 767-300ER. This fleet type is currently being retrofitted with a new cabin interior and inflight entertainment system.

Also, the 20 W seats would be three rows of 2-2-2, plus one stand-alone pair of seats, which would fit in the current Y+ area of the 764 if you took out the closet. Finally, the 21 Y+ seats ad 163 Y seats should fit where the current 178 Y seats are, losing one row to allow for increased Y+ pitch and additional space for the W cabin.
I understand the math, but I can't imagine it being anything other than 1-1-1, a 1-1-1/1-2-1 will end up with the same seat width we have today in the 1-2-1 configuration. There would be no benefit to the refit. The biggest complaint about the 767 D1 is lack of privacy and the footwell, the only way to fix these issues is for the seat to take up more real estate.

A 1-1-1/1-2-1 would also create inconsistency in product (having throne seats and normal seats) depending on which seat you select (or reassigned in the event of a sub), this works fine for JetBlue with one fleet type, but for customers like myself consistency is a key and being reassigned from a throne to a normal seat would be very irritating.

767-400 D1 1A seat

I'll be on DL 101 ATL-EZE in a few days, and 1A is available. Is there anything undesirable about this seat, other than perhaps being close to the galley? Does it have a window by it?

It's a fine seat, and with a little extra foot space. If you enjoy the service (as opposed to sleeping), its easy to get the FA's attention when you want a refill or anything else.

I ended up taking 4A, thinking that 1A was gonna be too close to the galley, and I wanted to sleep. It worked out great.

Pardon my ignorance but how would I find out if any of these are the birds I'll be flying this summer?

ATL -> DUB on 8/4/19
LHR -> MSP on 8/12/19
SEA -> PEK on 9/20/19

I think these are 767-400s

I'm already in D1 on the SEA -> PEK flight via a GUC but was looking to switch to the DTW - > PEK for the much better seat. I dread the coffins!

At this point you can't find out. Keep an eye on this thread and keep an eye on your seatmaps. If something gets announced, it will be posted here. If your seat map suddenly changes, but still says 767-400, then you might get a modded plane

From what I've read elsewhere, there will only be the one frame modded by next month, and which is currently at CAN, and the rest will start to be done after the summer schedule ends in the fall, through the end of 2020.

I thought SEA/PEK was being switched to A330 from 767. Forget the post to look it up.

ETA - Nope, it's PVG that gets A330

These re-furbs can't come fast enough. The 764 I flew yesterday between FCO-JFK was pathetic. IFE limited, and even in 1A, the space was limited. And NO storage space. This was an embarrassing hard product, that made me appreciate the AA hard product and never take it for granted (long-haul).

Wait for the next batch of 339s, SEA will end up all 330 and the 76T fleet will likely be converted to 76Zs (and a MTOW and engine thrust drop with that)

The delivery schedule for the A339s shows four are due this year, four are due next year, and nine are due in 2021, thus it's likely that as each A339 gets delivered that a B763ER will be retired eventually.
slightly. When we get into 2020-2012 id bank on some slight (and i mean very slight) growth.

The long term goal is to get closer to 50/50 domestic to international ASM split. While a big part of that will come from upgrading like we have seen domestically, their will also be some limited growth. Watch for more AMS/CDG-spoke flying as well as some 339 and the 242 333s stretching their legs allowing from some longer range 350/777 flying.
as well as some 330 capacity from the west coast to Soul like we have seen with AMS/CDG.

the single converted 764 will basically play spare this summer. Once more are converted, Id bet money LHR goes (back) to mostly 764 flights. (with some 330 flying from ATL/JFK)

Other than LHR, places like FRA, MUC and South America are likely to go 764.
Xeno and M2578Z like this.
