Why doesn't Delta fly to Puerto Plata (POP) in the DR

Why doesn't Delta fly to Puerto Plata (POP) in the DR

I fly to POP fairly regularly and the fares are outrageous for the DR. American flies daily from Miami and has now added a second daily flight for the peak season and has also at times had a Saturday flight from CLT. Jet Blue is daily from JFK with a Saturday flight from BOS and United is daily from EWR.

It would seem that Delta should be in this market. Any insight?

pretty sure DL did fly to POP a few years ago, not sure why the stopped

maybe because they decided that there were better (i.e., more profitable) ways to utilize their jets

Delta can barely fly normally to BGI which is arguably a much more in demand destination

They've obviously decided that there's not enough revenue for them, possibly because this is primarily a leisure market
