I will keep this in mind. I booked a hotel since it can be canceled up until a night or two before. I have never used Air-BNB before and have heard good experiences as well as horror stories. I'll take a look at their website over the weekend or next week.

I would probably come for the entire weekend as well, maybe an extra day or two.
They did a nice refurbishment and it's more beautiful than ever. The Christmas decorations will be down and Mardi Gras stuff probably being installed. There's a very nice Italian restaurant with a long and interesting backstory and the Sazerac Bar (which amazingly) specializes in the drink of the same name.

Pat O'Brien's, is known for The Hurricane and the dueling Pianos and frequented by what we in New Orleans refer to as 'overserved tourists'.

The Monteleone Bar at the Hotel of the same name is known for its rotating bar and the piano that seems to attract well known musicians who are in town and decide to keep their fingers nimble while relaxing with a beverage or a few of their liking.

New Orleans is truly unique.

The list of unique places to drink and dine goes on and on from $ to $$$$$ and from dive bars to world renowned places.

Some of you mentioned The Marriott. I have a connection there and if enough of you are interested I could check into a group/event rate.

My flight departs in less than 8 hours and I'm not done packing. If you see a zombie at DFW or LAX tomorrow be sure to say hello!

found a $160 military rate at the Royal Frenchmen Hotel (just outside the French Quarter, about two blocks from SuperG1955’s place)

This thing sounds like it's really coming together quickly. Put me in as a sofy yes, need to get final approval from the fiance but I'm sure she'll want to get rid of me for a bit. I'll plan on running the 10k as well.

EDIT: Found some decent flight options to get there, $217 RT

I'm scheduled to arrive Thursday at 2127 on DL2369 from ATL and depart Tuesday on DL1377 at 1159 to JFK. Of course there have already been schedule changes, and there are several more Schedule Change Saturdays before the trip.

Since I'm planning to run, I'd rather forgo the Friday night/Saturday AM libation temptations and enjoy myself on Sunday after the race, otherwise I'd come in earlier.

Color me interested... if you can manage a rate under $150 I would be in. Otherwise I'll stick with my points at the SpringHill on Canal Street, or the FT-Air-BNB. I wonder if I get a Big D discount anywhere... I should look into that.

I am booked to arrive on Saturday morning at 1057 on DL1377, and depart Sunday evening at 1810 on Jet 576. So I would be interested in Sunday activities as well. I can also guest people into the The Club where they happen to have very nice bartenders (though I am sure the Sky Club is much nicer).

I still don't know for sure about my schedule, but if I come to NOLA, I would probably arrive late afternoon on Friday (Thursday doesn't look possible unless I would arrive around midnight, which seems pointless) and leave Monday afternoon.

I'd prefer Hyatt, but it would be nice to stay where others are staying.

FWIW, I matched my half-marathon personal best in 2019 fueled by Abita and chargrilled oysters. I did make myself stop after two beers though. I had quite a few more than two at the after-party, but they were small Michelob Ultras so they don't really count.

Whoever said 9am meetings are ok should be tarred and feathered

Better 9am for me than 8am CT for some of these guys!

That's the nice thing about Mich Ultra... "you can have one, or you can have ten, but it's still a good time"
