How many of those are rollover miles already? 1M MQM on $62k MQD would be a super low per mile cost (6.2 cpm).

The UA GS who report those kind of PQMs (and post their numbers on FT) are typically spending over $200k per year (20 cpm or higher). For example: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30344873-post122.html

SM are like a car- a depreciating asset. I try to burn mine as often as possible using the PWM feature for all personal and family flights while still earning MQMs.

Obviously with all that paid flying there’s no more time left in the year to use the SM. Maybe use them on magazine subscriptions?

Oh thank goodness, somebody out there has more than my piddly 3M redeemable miles.

It's bad enough watching 3M losing value almost daily, must be truly hurtful to watch 5.7M eroding in value.

They never expire, they just depreciate......

Hoarding SM is like saving all your cash in checking account with no interest. Spend it while you still can.

It's 88 segments this year for more than $60K MQDs, which would be under $1000 per segment, so this doesn't look like premium cabin fares unless it's mostly domestic trips with connections.

OTOH, if it's international, 88 segments would mean a RT every week, but less than $1000 per direction wouldn't be D1. If we estimate DL's longest segments as 8,000 miles (I'm guessing here as I know MSP-TYO is about 6,000 actual miles while MSP-AMS/CDG/LHR is about 4,000 miles), this would get us to about 700,000-750,000 MQMs using fares that earn at 100% of distance.

I'm approaching 1,900,000 RDMs, mostly because I want to purchase tickets to maintain status rather than fly on award tickets, although I do sometimes use miles to upgrade (when available at the time of booking, ha!) trips where the applicable reimbursement policy is (reasonably cheap) coach fares only.

I've heard that can be done pretty quickly with the correct aircraft.

And if you drop dead tomorrow all of these SM go poof. Remember...SM don’t expire. Until you do.
