Asia Holidays sale in PS/D1
Seems DL has launched a salvo of cheaper fares covering DL CONUS-Asia route during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The offer came via email and i'm a PM. A couple of things I noticed - the offer expires in less than a week, so I sense they have quite a few seats for sale. Also curious why so many seats are available around the holidays.. you'd generally expect the premium cabin to be full with premium paying passengers, Non revs, and already locked in medallions.Some of the example fares aren't much of a sale, they are running about the same price lately after scanning GF and delta.com. I would pounce on some of these if they were a bit cheaper and not right around the holidays. I didn't dig in depth, but I didn't see any NRT fares. Is DL now completely out of NRT? DL still has flights to NRT from DTW, ATL, SEA, PDX, and HNL.

I love these "fare sales" - they're always trivial at best. I got one today for London trips but the Delta One exclusions cover pretty much all weeks but a couple and the reduction in price is only $400 from the normal fare. While if I go back two weeks earlier and you see Delta One fares $1500 cheaper than those that are being advertised as "on sale". Radical!

Advertised sales are rarely better than the unadvertised fare wars that get posted in places like the MR forum.

The issue is, if you want to go to China, the visa application takes longer to process than the available dates. Unless you already have a visa, these deals are unattainable. |
