JFK > FCO - Questions

Hi,

I have never flown DL internationally before now but I have a RT from JFK to FCO coming up on October 2nd/9th and had a few questions. The flights are DL444/445 respectively. My SO and I are on V fares.

Are there day of departure cash upgrade offers at check in similar to AA? There's currently 9 D1 suites open and 2 C+ seats open on our outbound leg, along with apparently 93 regular seats for standby. I have zero DL status aside from being in FF program.

Is alcohol comped in all cabins?

We are currently in 25AB on the way out and 25HJ on the way back. I'm assuming there will be a cascade of the empty premium seats filling up starting 7 days out. Is there a better set of seats or are all the Y pairs pretty much the same.

I'm pretty excited already as our last TATL was to CDG on AA and was a disaster. No IFE, delays, equipment swaps, and poor crewing. At least I got two EU261 claims out of it!

I appreciate the help.

Very, very unlikely. They will fill Delta One seats with mileage upgrades and Global Upgrade Certificates (GUCs). Less probably they will oversell coach and move a Diamond or Plat in coach up to D1.

No DoD upgrades. However keep pulling the trip up on delta.com It'll sometimes offer an upgrade for a price. No promise it'll offer it again or at same price, thus if like it, take it.

There's no suites on this route. Suites are currently only to Asia and one TATL daily to AMS. You're on a 767-400.

Yes free alcohol in Y on DL TATL.

Thank you! I misspoke on the suites. I didn't know that there were different versions of the D1 product. I'll keep an eye out for an upgrade. I'm assuming, based on the current asking price ($7k+) OW, that it's not going to be a low number.

Given that there are 90 something seats available 12 days out, is it likely that some of these premium seats (not C+, just extra cost Y seats) will be available further up? I do not sleep in Y but my SO does so I'm trying to make sure I get us into the best situation for her to be able to.

I really appreciate the help, flyerCO and 3Cforme.

Actually JFK-FCO on Oct 2 and FCO-JFK on Oct 9 are operated by the A330-300. Y seats and PTV should be nicer than on the 767-400. DL's international coach product is actually quite decent - you also get an amenity pack, a full water bottle, menu card, and a choice of three main courses for dinner; and as mentioned all alcohol is free in Y as well.

Terrific! I think just about anything will blow the AA Y product I flew last year out of the water.
