0/2 on my recent trip on actually flying the A220. Flight going to NY was delayed really long for weather, and they eventually subbed in a 717 instead. Coming from NY, the A220 went mechanical. Something with the fuel system supposedly. 9 hours later, ended up on a 737-800 instead. Oh well, was kinda looking forward to trying to fly on one.

Well the good news for you is they aren't going anywhere!

I was supposed to fly my first one in February but the government shutdown postponed that. It took me until June until I was on one so I understand how you feel.

Currently sitting on 16A on DL1301 IAH-SLC.

16 A,B,C,D feel like regular economy seats (though this bird feels far less cramped than the UA alternative). It seems like the seat map is wrong and the actual emergency row is 15. 15 has more space but nothing crazy - I'd say it's maybe 34 in pitch but it's not like I'm measuring.

Plane is full and no one had to gate check carry ons!

16F is missing the seat in front and looks perfect. You still have to bother two people to go to the restroom though. Other than that, I'd say comfort + is a better bet than emergency exit.

15ABCD have additional legroom and the row in front does not recline.
16E is really the only exit row seat although Delta will sell 16CDE as the exit row. 16CD does not get any extra legroom. 16E has extra legroom due to the missing seat in front.
16AB may show up as exit row, but are regular seats.

Not sure if some of the issues are talked about before, but now that I have multiple flights under my belt, I have formed my opinion. I was so looking forward to this plane but not so sure that I like it that much.

The A220 cabin is great, very modern and spacious and quiet. That said, I am not so sure of the quality of this Canadian-designed airplane. When they close the underbelly door, the entire front/First Class area rocks up and down and have this cheap-falling-part jolting sound - it predictably surprises everyone accompanied by nervous laughs. During spin-up, the engine makes a weird puddling squelching whirling sound like it's going to blow. On landing, the plane come in fast and rough that require all of reverse thrusters and breaks, even on clear day with no wind shear issues. The landing is always very rough and feeling like we are going to run out of runway. I tracked the nail numbers of my flights and they are all different, so appear for the crew, so I take it my experiences are not isolated to one plane. In a nutshell, I don't feel the plane is well designed or built, it feel cheap and very unpolished by today's standards.

You sound like a very nervous flyer. When the engineers chose an engine, I guess they looked at power, fuel efficiency, weight, MTBF, etc. Not spin-up sound. I'm gonna have to agree with them on this one; the A220 engines are widely praised in the industry.

The A220 is capable of a steeper approach than most other jets. Sounds like your pilots were having fun with the new capabilities at their disposal! I'd probably do the same

Nervous, hardly.. I fly a couple times a week for a couple of decades now and I eat and sleep my through the turbulence that lifted a service cart off the floor , and have been on props without a second thought. Cabin-aside, the finesse of this aircraft feels like it was designed from 50 years ago. A220 engine has had a quite a few issues, from flame out, severe damage to the blades of the low pressure turbine, just to name a few. Adding sandbags to a brand new airplane and they feels like finesse?!

How very odd.

A220-100 requires 39% less runway than a 737-700. 4790 ft vs. 6699 ft.

Yup. A very, very capable plane. Only have flown it once, but showed up for my B717 SEA-SFO flight last week and found a A220 sitting next to it at gate A1, saying it was the 9 pm departure for SFO. I asked, and they are now running several SFO-SEA flights on it. I will definitely book that over other options, and will even pay more to fly it vs a 7-narrow-7 with the new micro bathrooms (think UA cheap) on UA and AS or other DL equipment.

For me, its a cut above in comfort, and I think will be a draw on highly competitive routes like SEA-SFO (served by DL, AS, UA, and WN from OAK/SJC)
