Companion upgrade - missing return flight?

Hi Folks,

I am traveling with future Ms TFD LHR-PDX later this month. I am on a Z paid biz class ticket and she is on a cheapie ticket using my DM certs. She is on a different record locator.

We will fly the outbound as planned.

On the return I will likely have to miss the flight and stay on the West Coast for business. The terms of my fare make the return of no value so there is no point of cancelling ahead of time.

My question: If I am a no show for the return will she be downgraded?

TFD

No downgrade. When you use GUC/RUC for companion on same flights, but separate reservation there's nothing linking you.

Why not change the date of the return after you've flown the outbound? In that case if you can find same fare class available on new return date, all you pay is change fee.
