I think remember reading that you need to decline both and then re-enable F upgrades. Otherwise it was causing issues like you describe. Otherwise even though it was checked the system wasn't seeing it as enabled. I don't know if that was really true. I don't know if still the case if it was true.

Issues like this have been reported on FT long before the online upgrade request system was put in place.
Is DL still running everything on a 1960's style mainframe? I know they have built new platforms on top of it, but is Deltamatic still the backbone of their operation? And could this be why there are basic data errors? This is far beyond my knowledge, I know nothing about systems like this in the travel space or anywhere else.

I've tried a few suggestions, but otherwise my UG % is pretty high in advance - 85%+ - that it wouldn't make sense to clear that often but have the few outliers be the case where the system misreads something, but not in all the other cases? I'm just saying their problems speak more to randomness or bugs than deliberate, otherwise there would be more consistency to the problems customers see on this matter.

There's also been discussion here I believe that DL sometimes prioritizes pax for upgrades who haven't received them in a while. Not sure if they'd prioritize them over a higher status pax. Maybe urban legend, but I feel like it happened to me right after a corporate status match to Gold last year.
The "upgrade turned off" inadvertently scenario makes more sense, but thought I'd throw this one out there too.

FWIW my money is still on FCM, maybe he's just too sheepish to admit it.
What was the routing? Upgrades into/out of SFO can be dang near impossible, even for a DM on a M fare. I have missed with an RUC on several occasions, especially to ATL/DTW/JFK.

This too, some of the offers are quite good. I accepted AUS-DTW for $111 a couple of weeks ago and TPA-SLC for $179 next week.
I should clarify that my experience on AA as PLT with possibly being upgraded ahead of an EXP due to not having one in a long time was on legacy AA (2010ish), not the current "HP dba US dba AA".

I was told that MM status matters to Delta agents when dealing with the customers. They might not give you any published benefits, but you get more flexibility. In 2015, I was looking at escorting my in-laws back to Manila. They allowed me to use $300 of residual value from my in-law's ticket towards my LAX-NRT-MNL ticket so I only paid $550 for the ticket.
