JFK-NCE Next Summer

I searched before posting, but didn't find anything. Any thoughts to why every day is SOLD OUT in D1 from JFK to NCE next June/July - but the seat maps are unassigned. Does Delta hold off releasing these seasonal routes? Or did I just catch a computer glitch today?

J9 on all days currently available for sale. (Up through July 7).

Not sure why you're having an issue...

So weird. I am just on delta.com - and it just says sold out every day. Must be a glitch. I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks!
Peter

Actually, I just checked a few more dates, and there are in fact a few days where it is J0. So, not sure what to make of that!

Is NCE next in line to get the Domestic 757 treatment? Though, I'd think they would sell PS instead of C+.

My guess is the other way that NCE will get the 359 suite treatment.

Oh, I'll take the under on that. Maybe there's an aircraft sub for two weeks in the middle of June due to utilization as they complete the 777/77Ls.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess this is a very profitable route in J. The region is a top vacation destination for very wealthy people (Monaco, etc.).

From NYC I would think this also. Which has me wondering why AA from JFK or UA from EWR don’t fly it?

Landing slot issues? It's a small airport, right? I wonder if this is a legacy Pan Am route that DL inherited and that's why they can fly there?

It is indeed a legacy PanAm route, but if any US carriers (other than DL) had wanted to serve NCE, they would have obtained the needed slots. So, it’s certainly not the reason. Even, by US standards, I would not qualify NCE a « small airport ». It is the 3rd largest airport in France (#1 is CDG and #2 is ORY).

I believe AF used to fly it. I think I took it 30 years ago.

No idea of timing, but maybe related to Cannes film festival? (And seats booked by studios.)
