Noob SM credit question?

Had a couple of nice-sized “inconvenience” vouchers for €300 each from Air France because they interrupted our meal for 15 minutes in their JFK lounge a few months back (gotta love the French!).

I wasn’t sure I could apply them on DL.com, so I booked today’s HSV>CDG trip on AF.com just so I could. All flights are actually on DL metal and I was able to check-in using the DL iPhone app and are showing up with valid BPs, but both flights have AF flight numbers.

I presume (or am hoping, really) that we’ll get normal DL MQM/MQD credit?

If you have AF flight numbers, it's AF-marketed, so you'll get credit per the partner earning table. In most cases that means the same MQMs but the MQDs are based on a percentage of distance, which depending what you paid for it, you're either getting screwed (if this is the $11K trip) or a bonus.

BTW your name is still mostly legible, in case you care.

Since they are AF marketed flights you will earn miles and MQDs based on a percentage of distance flown. That percentage is based your fare class and the AF earning table found here: https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...-partners.html

MQMs will be earned based on actual distance flown. You will earn at least 100% of distance flown, more if you paid for Premium Economy or Business.

FYI - we can still read your name in the boarding pass you posted.

Guess I should just delete the image, not really helping.

It's paid Z, so only ~$3K out-of-pocket.

Assuming same routing on the way back, milecalc says HSV-ATL-CDG-ATL-HSV is 9788, so x 40% = 3915 MQDs.

OK, that works. From the looks of it, we'll actually be getting a few more MQDs with about the same MQMs and RDMs, so nothing lost.

Thanks!

Why did they interrupt your meal?

And they ponied up these vouchers without you even asking for them? How did that work?

Yeah, it was crazy (in a good way) -- it was a JFK > CDG > TLV flight. We're in the AF lounge having our dinner there instead of on the plane so we can sleep (late PM flight). I get a call, and it's a local AF agent asking if she can come get us because something is wrong. We were in paid Z, so I was a little concerned. She showed up and was very apologetic, pleading with us to take a different flight -- which turned out to be a DIRECT DL JFK>TLV arriving in TLV about 6 hours before our scheduled itinerary, still in Biz class.

For the "inconvenience" we got a decent meal, 600 euros in vouchers, and a direct flight instead of a layover in CDG.

AND, to top it all off, she escorted us through a series of backdoor corridors directly to our new gate, to the head of the line -- a little bit of the "royal" treatment.

Essentially, AF fed us and paid us to take a better flight. ;-)

I was in the KLM AMS lounge #25 a little while back, and, there was a water leak of some sort from the ceiling, so, they moved an entire section of people out of the affected area, and, left us to fend for ourselves to find other seats in the already <and ALWAYS> crowded parts of the lounge - - AND - - -

We DIDN'T GET NUTHIN'!!!

:( ;) :D

So that's where all the seats that were open T-2 disappear to when I'm trying to use a GUC...

Cool story. Sounds like JFK-CDG was oversold which is why they moved you to a DL flight - JV partners sharing transatlantic revenue, after all. You did them a favor and they gave you some average vouchers for rebooking an international flight (maybe for coach...most would say, if you were in paid J, they should have been offering a few thousand each).
