Well, my recent flight had a person with peanut allergy so they didn't serve peanuts...that's what I thought that they went to peanuts from almonds. As much as I love almonds, I like peanuts too. Given the water consumption to grow an almond (it's like 2 gallons of water per almond) and most are grown in dry California, I bet it's better to have peanuts.

Has anyone ever actually gone into anaphylactic shock on a plane because peanuts were served? Peanuts have been on airplanes for over half a century. This peanut allergy nonsense is a fairly recent "epidemic".

While peanut allergies are a bit more common, tree nuts (including almonds) are a frequent potentially deadly allergen too. I've been on numerous flight where Delta did not serve almonds due to an allergic passenger onboard (seems overkill to not serve the whole plane rather than a few rows, but whatever).
I'm pretty confident this is just a cost play given that almonds are roughly twice the cost of peanuts.

The honey roasted peanuts they had for a bit were good.
Oh and if you're that allergic to peanuts where dust from opening a pack several rows ahead can kill you, then I don't know how you walk around anyplace or go into stores etc without a gas mask.
