Need LAX MCT T2/24A > B133

Currently onboard DL2774 ATL>LAX which has been delayed one hour for a medical reason. Arrives T2/24A

Our connection is DL41 LAX>SYD. Departs B133 at 10:25P according to DL.

What are are our chances of making it?

If it matters, I’m DM (wife is GM) and we both have D1 seats on DL41. Should that net us a car to get us from gate-to-gate? Or should we opt for the Virgin OZ codeshare (might lose J seating).

Thanks!

Is DL2774 & DL41 on 1 ticket? Or separate tickets?

There may be other people on DL2744 ATL LAX who will also be on DL41 LAX-SYD
No one on FT can say what DL will offer you if you misconnect.

Well until you land no-one knows. This happen all the time: airlines are used to this. While you are flying to LAX would expect DL to be making plans

Showing 41 minutes late on https://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL2774

Enjoy Australia when you get here

Looks like you'll have 55 minutes, which should present absolutely no problem.

OK. Now I have another question.

Delta is saying Temimal 2, Gate 133. But the only Gate 133 I see us in Terminal B.

Whats up with that? What am I missing?

Actually, the ride to TBIT appears to be longer from T3 than T2 according to this.

They say T2 because that's where the D1 checkin is. Gate 133 is in Terminal B, which is TBIT.

OK... so help a brother out here. If my plane is at B133, do we go to T2 first to check-in, and then do they shuttle D1 pax to TBIT?

With the exception of many domestic, most of my international travel is through ATL, DTW, or JFK so I’m a little confused and don’t want to miss the flight because I went the wrong way.

You'll catch a bus at a special gate in T3 (or T2) airside when you land (gate 22A in Terminal 2 and at gate 35P in Terminal 3). Then ride it to TBIT to catch your flight to Australia!

If you do misconnect, you can ask to be rebooked on VA LAX-SYD, departing at 11:45 PM

No, just go straight to your gate.

Like, if you looks at your trips connecting in ATL, a lot of times they'll show the terminal as S, because that's where the check-in desk is. But since you're connecting, you don't need to go to S, you just go straight to your gate.

Part of the confusion here is that LAX doesn't have individual concourses the way a modern hub like ATL does. Each terminal has 1 and only 1 concourse effectively. Once there is a true airside connection between everything it will be even more confusing.
