Given that there probably will be a slight thinning of the Diamond Ranks due to the Amex requirement going up from 25k to 250k, go for the Diamond this year. I have a feeling perks are going to go up for those that make Diamond in 2019

Does the policy of not losing more than one tier each year (that is, being DM one year automatically makes you PM the next) no longer apply? I havenít really been following lately.

These seats are free contingent on your participation in SkyMiles.

Swapping out your SkyMiles number after taking advantage of a SkyMiles perk may be a yellow flag in the view of Delta's fraud/security auditors.

Similar question (sorry if it has been answered). I have about 1M Skymiles and really want to just keep Platinum for the next few years as I need the reward flight refund-ability. I don't fly many paid reservations these days due to work changes. Does anyone know what happens if I hit the reserve spend in 2018 and then wait until 2019 to deposit them into my account as per the e-mail they send out below?

You've earned 15,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 15,000 bonus miles for spending $30,000 with your Card within the calendar year. Your bonus miles have already been deposited into your account. If within 90 days, a MQM recipient is not designated, the MQMs will be deposited into your account. Log in Now!

They will still count as if you earned them in 2018.

+1

To further expand on the above, DL Amex MQMs earned from Amex spending from Jan 1-Dec 31 in a calendar year always count as that earning year's MQMs, no matter when DL and Amex get around to posting those MQMs to the target SkyMiles account (yours, or the gifted SkyMiles account). Always.

I can confirm that if you swap out your DL number once you are confirmed in C+, you are automatically and immediately booted out. It isn't a flag for auditors, but the system does it for them.

Create second DL account. Merge the account together next year after February.

I don't think this solves anything.

You'd have to use the new account, so you wouldn't get any flight benefits.

After the merge, DL will see your combined 2018 totals and adjust your 2019 status accordingly.

All you'd have done is miss out on some flight benefits and a few months of higher status.
