Delta now awards miles based on Dollars not miles?? WOW!

Could we please create a ... Delta thread? I just took a trip and received 9100 MQMS and 3900 actual miles. Apparently mileage is based on cost and not actual miles? I have never noticed this before but this is ridic.

Furthermore, didn't Delta just have a big promotion for prossecco on international flights? NO sign of prosecco on our flights.

... Delta.

Redeemable mileage earning was announced four years ago. MQMs are still based on distance.

Maybe we can consolidate this into a 'Posters can't read Terms & Conditions' thread.

Technically, that's more than a year.

I just knew it was *really* old news and didn't bother looking it up. Time flies, I guess!

Thank you for confirming this, when I did a quick Google search I actually didn't believe this would possibly be the case! Delta never fails to disappoint! I only wish I had the time to always check my miles and frequent this board as often or it would have been no surprise! :-)

To the OP, you possibly could have recieved more redeemable miles booking on a partner airline. Delta has no way of knowing what you paid on (for instance) Korean air, so awards you miles based on a percentage of distance flown. It's rarely 100%, unless you're in J/F, but sometimes earns more miles.

I hope you didn't book a bunch of travel on American or United before coming to the board to mention this

You could always fly AA or United instead and you'll earn based on mileage instead. Oh wait...

This change went into effect in 2015. Change was announced in February 2014. https://www.theguardian.com/money/us...-flyer-spender

To put it politely, where have you been and how are you just now noticing this?

In other news, I showed up for my DC-9 flight the other day and it had been changed to some newfangled MD-88. When did this happen?
