I was not targeted and called and asked and was told no. I have canceled the card. I will be canceling my Plat. card and moving to Gold later this year as I will have enough MQM to make it to retirement as DM as long as I make the spend. I would have kept the card if the $25K waiver was in effect.

Yes. Just to be clear. I did this back in May just before I hit the 60K spend. After the 15K MQMs posted I canceled in July. They offered me 20K Pesos to stay if I spent $3K. I took it, and canceled in August.

Exactly the same for me. I was told I spent $3k too much last year to qualify.

An interesting data point. I spent about $61K last year and moved the rest to AMEX DL PL.

They thought since I was already in the $90K range last year, there was no reason to encourage me to spend that again.

I don’t get why it’s so offensive to target specific customers for deals like this. And, no, I wasn’t targeted, but I wish I was.

Amex has targeted for years for Amex Offers.

Why can’t they encourage specific behavior in certain circumstances?

This seems completely reasonable to me.
