Custom award routing and 24 hr cancellation ruele

Is there a way to piece together the routing for an DL award ticket or am I stuck with whatever comes out of the search engine?
The search engine does not show any overnights and I want to force an overnight and a specific connection. When I try to use multi-city function all flights departing the next day within the 24 hour mark do not show up as options.

How do I use a DL gift card to pay for taxes on an award ticket? Is the 24 hour award cancellation policy in effect if ticket originate outside US? Is it 24 hours, or midnight the next day? Midnight of what time zone (departure or ATL)?

Multi-city no longer works for this kind of thing--it only shows true stopovers (connections of >4 hours domestically or >24 hours internationally). If you want to piece together an overnight connection that the website doesn't show, you have to call.

When you call, be prepared for most agents to show true colors of Delta: adamantly anti customer and consistently coming up with lies and giving all sorts of made-up and often contradictory (once you confront them about it and prove them to be outright wrong) reasons why your valid routing and connection supposedly can't be done, even though they just can't be bothered to properly put it together and just want to get you off the phone.

In short, it IS doable (up to 23h59m connection, IF it is international flights - presumably it is; if domestic then I believe max connection is 4h), but most res agents will not bother and will give you lies that it can't be done on a through fare. It's up to you to fight them and disprove their lies with facts that they cannot deny, or HUACA. It may take quite a few hours over a few days or weeks over multiple attempts to get the routing that you want. Quite frankly, it just may not be worth it. That is, of course, what Dullta wants: to have pax give up and not use their miles.

Longer connections can meet fare rules (see LoganFlyer's remarks) but you still need to meet married segment availability rules by origin and destination.

My time zone is ATL's time zone so I have never tested that aspect of the Risk-Free Cancellation policy.

Yes if it involves DL flights, but N/A if the itinerary is DL flight free.
