Help with total number of gift cards per transaction

I'm aware that you can only use 3 gift cards per transaction, but can someone confirm if it's 3 gift cards plus other forms of payment, or if it's 3 forms of payment PERIOD.

I have a handful of $50 cards and a $100 voucher from Delta.

If I'm trying to buy say a $300 ticket, use my $100 voucher, as many gift cards as possible, and put the rest of my credit card

1. $100 Delta Voucher
2 - ? $50 Gift Cards
Last - Remaining balance on my credit card

Basically, how many gift cards can I use? 1, 2, or 3 ? In this scenario?

Thanks

Buy a $150 ticket with gift cards.

Do a 24 hour cancellation.

Get a $150 voucher.

Use $100 voucher, $150 voucher, and remaining $50 gift card to buy the $300 ticket.

This used to work (two years ago). Assume it still does.

That would be pretty crafty.... So does that mean if I don't do that trick the limit would be $100 Voucher, (1) $50 GC, $150 on my credit card ?

Yes - it seems the 3 payment limit is hard coded. Even if you call in they can't take more than three vouchers/gift cards - so this is the only workaround I'm aware of.

I was under the impression that you cannot combine a voucher with a gift card

Quick question.

If you use a giftcard but don't use the entire value, does the partial balance remain for a future ticket?

I'm not positive, but I thought I read if you have a Delta issued E-Credit (Voucher) if you use say half of it, you lose the rest? Is that true?

Does anyone know how long after cancelling within the 24 hours that Delta will issue the e-credit? I used three $50 Delta gift cards to buy a ticket (+ $70 on a credit card) and then cancelled, hoping to get one e-credit for $150. My Delta wallet doesn't show any e-credits but it's only been two days. I'm hoping it just takes a while for Delta to re-issue these things.

Thanks for that suggestion. It will come in useful to liquidate my various DL $50 egift cards.

Depends on the terms of the voucher, but for most you cannot combine with a gift card.

AFAIK you can only use one e-credit per trip. So if you book two one-ways, instead of a r/t, then you would be able to use two e-credits! I don't know about using gift cards however!

Can anyone confirm if this still works?

I've heard recently that they refund you in the original form of payment, down to individual gift cards...you have nothing to lose, though, so report back!

You can always ask for a voucher instead of refund. They'd much rather keep your money then give it back. If they ask just tell them you need to use it on another ticket before the credit hits your card.
