If the JV goes through, it is a certainty that the MQM chart will change.

They better get it done soon. They're about to miss out on Olympic traffic, though I imagine most everyone has bought flights already.

Assume it jumps immediately to tier 1 and earns like MU and others.

Do you have any ideas how they could hurry along the approval of the South Korean regulators - legally and ethically?

is that suppose to be a sarcastic response? And if so, to whom?

if not, no and no. But if they’re like China or North Korea, there isn’t anything money can’t fix.

Not sure what do you mean by North Korea since there is nothing worth bribing for in NK.

It's the same .... all over the world including America (we just practice a more subtle and a bit less egregious form of bribes).

The Winter Olympics are a two-week blip. In the big picture (2018 revenue), it will have only a minor impact.

There are no more tiers.

It was meant for you.

The application for JV has been submitted by DL and KE. It has been approved by U.S. regulators, with conditions that DL and KE will likely choose to accept. The JV can't proceed without approval by South Korean regulators. There is no 'hurrying' to be done.

I, for one, would love to see the joint-venture rejected, forcing Delta to restore its intra-Asia flights. I know it won't happen, but I can wish.

Be careful what you wish for.

IMHO ICN is vastly superior airport to transit to Intra-Asia flight than PVG(MU).

Even if it's rejected, though, that's not what would happen. We'd simply be left with inferior connectivity and reliance on an array of partners over multiple hubs rather than being able to count on a broad spectrum of connection options on an immunized JV partner over a premium hub.
