2018 Choice
Hi all, I became diamond for the first time in January or Feb 2017 - and I picked my DM choice benefits at that time. When I logged in today to see if I could select new ones it said my 2018 ones had already been selected - is this a mistake?

You will need to re-qualify again for this year, have you done this? Once you meet the requirements for 2018 (by flying and spending enough in 2018) you can select your benefits, and your status will remain valid through the following year. You can track your current progress on delta.com

You only get one set of choices per DM qualification. It makes no difference how early or late in the year you qualify. You qualified for 2018 status and thus 2018 choices benefits and you have already picked them. You do not get another set of DM choice benefits until you qualify for 2019 status and thus 2019 choice benefits. No, it is not a mistake. Why should you get two sets of DM choices benefits when you have only actually qualified for DM once?

Just to spell it out, if you earn status in Jan or Feb of 2017, you are earning it for program year 2018 (which is valid through Jan 31 2019), and so even though it was 2017 you were picking your 2018 benefits.
If you renew to DM before 12/31/18, you will be renewing for the program year 2019 (valid through Jan 31 2020), and can then pick you 2019 benefits.
Also, this assumes you picked all 3 of your benefits. If you only picked 1 or 2, you should still be able to select the remainder.

You have already selected your 2018 ones as when you first qualified for DM in 2017, you qualified for the 2018 year which means your status is good from Jan/Feb 2017 (whenever you first qualified) to 1/31/2019. When you re-qualify for the 2019 medallion year, you will be able to select your 2019 choice benefits.

I don't know why I'm getting so confused - I finished the year with 200k miles. So if the 125 were for 2018 status; I guess I have 75k rolling over for 2019 status. To further complicate things I was platinum and then diamond in 2018, and so it let me pick both Platinum and Diamond benefits. I held off on picking the 4 upgrade certs for Plat because it said I could pick by Jan 31, 2018; but now it says, "
- so is this extension of time a mistake?

It looks right to me. You qualified for both Platinum and Diamond for 2018 and get both Platinum and Diamond Choice Benefits for 2018 which you can pick until Jan 31, 2019. I think what is confusing you is that you qualified in 2017 but for the 2018 Medallion year which runs 2-1-18 thru 1-31-19. When you qualified in 2017 Delta gives you Platinum and Diamond for the balance of 2017 but you don't get choice benefits for the 2017 Medallion year; you just get the it for 2018.

Imagine the more typical qualifier reaching the threshold in Dec 2017. They would have all 3 benefits still to be selected, with just over a year to do so.
Even though you rolled over 75k miles, you probably don't yet qualify for Platinum for 2019 because you also need to make the MQD (or waiver).
Then you will get another Platinum benefit, which is a 2019 benefit to be selected by Jan 31 2020.
The Platinum benefit that expires Jan 31 2018 would be 2017 platinum benefit, from the previous year. If you haven't selected that, you should still have it (providing you made Platinum during 2016).

The Platinum benefit, showing select by Jan 31, 2018, should still be there. You might have to search around for it.

I qualified for Diamond for both the 2017 (reaching thresholds by 12/31/2016) and 2018 (reaching thresholds by 12/31/2017) program years. I have yet to choose any benefits for either due to a combo of laziness, and wanting the latest possible use date on upgrade certs.
I have until 1/31/2018 for 2017 benefits, and 1/31/2019 for 2018 benefits. Here is what my page looks like, and yours should have some variation on this.
