Match AA EXP to DL DM?

Currently, i’m AA EXP and flew 150K EQMs last year and I’m somewhat curious about flying some more on DL. I’ve heard DL occasionally match EXP to DM? If so, I’d be curious about trying DM.

Last year, I ended up with 18K EQDs, so 15K MQDs shouldn’t be a big deal. The majority of my flights are through a corp travel agency that I use for personal travel too, so I end up getting most of my Dollars formula based. I’d have DL SkyClub access via Amex Plat, and I’m based in LAX and fly frequently to HKG (so that’d be most likely flying via China Airlines through TPE in paid J or PEY). Other routes I like to do are LAX-BOS and LAX-AUS which DL seems to offer as well.

How’s the experience with DL? So far on AA, I haven’t had too many issues, just 5 delayed flights last year (2 weather, 2 medical, 1 mechanical), plenty of upgrades, and some crappy lounge situations due to renovations (which I suppose everyone is having). Are DL GUCs and RUCs easy to use on routes like SEA-HKG or LAX-PVG? Does DL give any “extra credit” GUCs like AA and UA do?

I did sign up for a DL account as a place to deposit some orphan miles for when I need to fly China Southern/Eastern for when I am flying domestic within China every now and then. Thinking about taking it further?

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think they do matches any longer, just challenges. Also, I don’t think they will challenge to Diamond, only up to Platinum. You will likely be disappointed using GUC’s as they are difficult to use in Asia. A lot of airport upgrades in a many instances. Delta protects their premium product to maximize profits and keep it a bit more exclusive. No extra credit GUC’s

Delta doesn't status match to Diamond; Platinum is the top status-match tier.. This page should have all the relevant info: https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...challenge.html

If your most common route is LAX-HKG, and your AA experience hasn't been *too* bad, why ditch oneworld for SkyTeam? DL is nicer domestically, but not worth the extra connection when going to HKG IMO (note that CI earns MQMs at a substantially reduced rate).

CI on J or PE fares will earn 100% MQM and 20% of distance flown for MQD

yeah, I’d lose the 150% or 200% EQM rate I’d get for flying paid J or PE on AA/CX, but since CI J fares are quite cheap, I may not care as much for status since I’d be flying paid J. Coincidentally, the 20% MQD rate is similar to the EQD rate I get for AA discount J and PEY on AA/CX.
