I am flying on the 26th BOS-LGA-MCO
and twice this year flew BOS-LGA-LAS as well as BOS-LGA-FLL
I seem to have that connection offered all the time, hence my surprise to see the schedule stripped so bare.

The post that you quoted is for the other shuttle flights out of LGA (DCA/ORD) that where previously in the MAT and just moved to Terminal C about two weeks ago. The BOS shuttle moved out of the MAT back in 2014 and connections have been available ever since.
