Wake up sleepy head ; VX has been flying the 321neo for at least six months now.

So in a few years the fleet will look something like this:

Airbus CS-100/300 (replace MD-88/90/717, A319, 737-700)
Airbus A321 (replace A320,737-800/900,757)
Airbus A332/3/9
Airbus A350-900 (replace 747 and 777)

There will be no 767 replacement. Have fun connecting in AMS and CDG for any secondary TATL markets.

In a few years, the 767s will still be in the fleet. No replacement will be necessary.

Longer term, 767-sized planes are an industry-wide problem; not just DL. UA is even thinking about buying brand new 767s. Everyone is trying to figure out a long term plan for this.

Boeing is currently finalizing the 797 design which will be the end replacement for the 767. Boeing could work in a deal for some new 767's as a temporary solution for a United order.

I'd love to see DL book some A321NEOs but people might want to pump the brakes here.
Air Canada "favoured" Airbus and was "leaning towards NEO" a couple years ago when Boeing came in at the 11th hour, sharpened pencils in hand.

... AC received their first MAX8 a couple weeks ago

Isn't the order final? Or did CNN jump the gun?

Don't think so. UA is firmly in the AB camp now as well. Only AS and WN can and do resist and prove that their choice is profitable. But then they are not in the race to the bottom as the
big US 3 are.

By the way I appreciated your opinion about the ME 3. Thumbs up to that.

5 minutes ago you posted that there's no replacement for the 767 and we're all gonna have to connect to get anywhere. Now you're saying that a 767 replacement is imminent. Cool, you answered your own question. Is this a game to boost your post count or something??

Yields mist be awful on weekends and non-business heavy days.
AA is doing very well with their 3-cabin transcons. They have sown up both Hollywood and Silicon Valley high yield F customers as well as more normal J flyers. Loads are high in both cabins, F giving some J elites the opportunity to upgrade into the few open F pods, and there's always a backlog of elites in Y who don't make the upgrade to J. UA gave up any chance of keeping an F cabin when it left JFK, Hollywood types won't cross the Hudson into Jersey. DL may now be in a position to take on AA and Mint with an F cabin on these A321s.

Uh, you better check your sources. United just placed a massive order for the 737Max. They have only taken new deliveries from Boeing since the merger.

Of course there is a 767 replacement. Delta just won't have it.

More good news for Alabama where Airbus will likely assemble this order. Story going the rounds was DL hoping Boeing would drop the C-Series trade challenge if it ordered 737max, but seems this wasn't something the boys in Chicago would go for. Obviously there were other technical/performance/pricing issues that weighed in on Airbus's side.

How do you know that?? It's not even been officially announced yet. Much less available for purchase. And yet you've already figured out who is and is not going to buy it.

Delta won't buy another Boeing. Or at least not until a new management team emerges when the current management either moves on or retires.

I don't think managers are that petty. If Boing offers the right plane at the right price and right schedule, DL will buy it. They are running a business, not writing a soap opera
