Why are you assuming they didn't have a proposal from Boeing as well?

Is that capabilities? Can they fly across Atlantic Ocean?

I really like the 321's. Still prefer the 757 with the 2L boarding, but I'll take a win when I can. The 737MAX... yuck

Definitely a win over any 737, time for Boeing to put it out to pasture and come up with something new.

What is Delta's love affair with Airbus.
Personally I can't tell a huge difference between a 737 and A320 series when seated, I know some refer to the 739 as a torture chamber but I've never felt like that one. Not a fan of either one over the other.

READYWHENYOUARE: Can you tell me how your Trump assertion about giving Delta the finger about the ME3 and Open Skies squares with this Reuters report and a few other online news reports?

I guess it depends where you get your news. I posted an article in OMNI that states Open Skies is here to stay.

Agreed. Some people swear they can feel that extra 0.5 inch of space. My favorite narrowbody is the the E175. That is far more comfortable than any 737 or A320.

Grossly undersized only for grossly oversized pax! But the extra width is certainly appreciated when next to a POS.

There's the A321neo, and the A321LR that hasn't seen a delivery yet. If Delta takes some LRs you can expect TATL ops with near-certainty.

What do you define as oversized pax? The average shoulder width of a US male is 18 inches.. so that means the average US male is oversized relative to a 17.2" B737 seat.

I'm 200 lb 6'4" with 22" inch shoulders. I appreciate the extra inch.

This is untrue. Many of the SFO/LAX transcons that used to be 75S have gone widebody. DL has plenty of 75S to meet its needs. 75S planes operate non-D1 routes every single day. Why? Because DL has surplus 75S capacity. In fact, just a few months ago DL had the opportunity to create 5 more 75S (during the 75P mod) and they chose not to. Shortage of 75S is a flyertalk myth not based in reality.

That's not an apples to apples comparison. For starters the BA A318 has very few seats, it makes a stop westbound, and LHR is one of the shortest TATL. The A321 is a stretched (read heavier) version of the A318. It could maybe make it with a lighter configuration to LHR but not much beyond.

The a321neoLR is the version that maybe can do TATL (that's what B6 is betting on) but it's not a great platform for TATL (nor is the 737) because to keep 757 level of seats you quickly have a weight / power issue (not enough power and to add power you need engines which add weight and require more fuel tanks which = more weight, etc).

If it could be done today, AA would be running their A321Ts for one of the LHR frequencies

AA's A321Ts aren't neos - they're current engine options.

I wonder how long AA can hold on to having an F product on JFK-LAX/SFO. UA dropped F from their premium service product and Delta never offered it. My prediction is it will eventually be removed or it will become very bad as there is no other F product to compete with. Those AA 321's are woefully under capacity. Yields mist be awful on weekends and non-business heavy days.
