My favorite is that people think they can enforce camera use. That might be true in the time where people here and there had large video cameras but it's nearly impossible today when everyone has a camera on all their electronic devices.

Hold on y'all....laptop computers are approved for all phases of flight (gate, taxi, takeoff, cruise, and landing) provided they are less than three pounds. The phase DL uses to differentiate between the two is "large electronic devices" and "small lightweight devices". I regularly use my small and thin laptop (ThinkPad Carbon X1) from gate to gate and haven't gotten any comments from flight attendants in front or back for at least a year.
I agree with the rest about FA's making sure that all passengers have a decent chance of evacuating during an emergency (seats and tray tables up, stuff stowed, etc.)

* DVD players, laptop computers, and other devices that exceed the size/weight restrictions must be stowed for taxi, takeoff and landing.

Sorry, right, that's where the 3 lbs comes in. Many newer thin laptops are < 3 lbs. For reference, since most seem to know what they are, the current MacBook is 2.03 lbs.

Same thing this morning - (red-eye) LIH to LAX
Sitting in first class -
PAX in row ahead of ACCDraw.2 did not move seat to upright position before landing.
FA’s did not see or were unconcerned
ACCDRAW.2 fussed (to me) but didn’t ask PAX or FA’s to remedy
Definitely a safety issue, next time I’ll gently ask PAX to comply.
In the meantime, I’ll drop an e-mail to DL (not sure it will make a difference)

"PED use on the ground and during takeoff and landing should be limited to small, lightweight devices less than 2 lbs. These devices should be of a size that could easily be secured in a seat pocket without exceeding the designed weight capacity of 3 lbs. including all contents of seat pocket (safety card, Sky magazine, airsickness bag) and not impede emergency egress to the aisle."
I remembered the 2.03 because of this thread
Using laptop gate to gate (2lbs or less)
