Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

Modifications are taking place at SIN and the entry and exit dates are based on SIN time (GMT + 8 hrs). Comfort + installation was done at ATL on all the 7HD>7CD conversions, and on 7106 (7HB>7CB). The remaining 9 LRs had the C + cabins installed at SIN.

And what does winter in SA vs winter in Zambia or Botswana have to do with anything?
Lost in translation. To get a better idea if I have any chance flying a 7HB to JNB this summer and what might be a possible indicator, I was attempting to ask "if" Delta would ever swap out a 772, with more than 28 D1 seats already booked, with a 7HB. If so, how would they handle the D1 bookings over 28. I realize we are not at that point yet. Travel to JNB (and nearby countries via JNB) is the same or maybe heavier than in the summer.

Delta's first widebody with PS and C+ expected "next week"

Good news for everyone lamenting the lacking of C+ on newly refurbished widebodies:

At investor's day today, Glen Hauenstein announced that Delta will next week get back its first widebody with "five cabins" — which is really four cabins:

Basic Economy
Main Cabin
Comfort+
Premium Select
Delta One Suites.

It's a refurbished 777.

Excellent news! So glad that they keep C+ on the 777s... Flying internationally and usually required to buy economy tickets, I avoid the A350s, where one cannot be upgraded except by GUCs or miles or money, and was dreading the days when C+ was phased out on DL widebodies as that would have meant more UA for me (because of the routes I usually fly).

I expect DL will mod the 767-400ERs with Delta One Suites and 2-2-2 PS. I doubt there will be any big changes to the 767-300ERs.
I believe the original business class on the 767ERs was a 2-2-2 using 767 domestic FC seats. Back then DL had an international FC product which were sleeper seats. When DL introduced BusinessElite, it replaced the international FC and business products.
The 767-400ER will be around for a while, and it is competing with other airlines which offer a true premium economy product on TATL routes.

Agree. Back in 2016 my wife and I flew to Europe for a river cruise, and I bought up to Comfort Plus on the overnight eastbound leg. It makes a huge difference on an overnight flight. I think I spent about $120 for each seat upgrade.

So something doesn't make sense here... they order a pile of 350s with J/G/Y and no comfort+, and they already completed updating 4 777s in the same manor, but now they're going to put comfort+ back in? I think somebody mispoke.

From what I understand there was a technology issue with Comfort and DPS both being sold on the same flight... But it appears it's been fixed.

I'd imagine the A350s will get Comfort added in the future.

No, responsible parties have mentioned repeatedly that Comfort+ will go back in, to join Premium Select. It's been discussed here prominently.

Remember, C+ is the identical main cabin seat, just with a couple of extra inches of legroom and a slightly different headrest cover. Takes just a short time for mechanics to "install" C+ in any existing aircraft. They could convert the entire PS widebody fleet in a matter of days, easy. Now that one plane is going to come back from mods with C+, I'll bet we see a quick fleet-wide update of all the PS aircraft very soon.

I don't know if it is that easy, I think the complexity is why it took so long to see the first D1S, PS, C+, Y aircraft.

Removing one row of Y seats is easy to make the extra leg room, but you are also fussing with IFE data wiring, power, gaspers, and overhead reading lights. Not as straightforward as you would think.

It's this. Delta couldn't sell both, but with the fare reclassing they just went through, it can now sell C+ and PS on the same planes. The 359s and refit 777s have extra space in Y while they awaited being able to put the C+ back in. It's just a manner of sliding the seats around to their new designated spacing and slapping some new seat covers on. Should be done on all the 359s and 777s sometime in the next year or so.

As noted above, it's actually more complicated than that. They have to move the reading lights and air gaspers and flight attendant call buttons

Are we sure about that? Those could have been properly positioned, because I don't believe there will be any change in the number of rows. It's literally just adjusting the seats. They could have easily put the PSUs in the correct spot and adjusted row spacing to make it work in the short-term while they waited for the C+ to be installed.

I'm not saying it's not. If someone from the inside says they have to move, I totally believe it. But my understanding was they knew from the very beginning that the layout without C+ would only be temporary, and made accommodations to make adjusting the main cabin and adding C+ very simple.

If the number of seats didn't change, just the pitch, I think someone would have noticed a random 12-24" of empty space in the cabin. If the seats were already in their proper locations (which could be) and they were just waiting on seat covers, that would be odd.

Aircraft builds and refits are planned year(s) in advance with wiring harnesses (for IFE, power, lighting) built exactly for specific seat layouts. It's not like there is slack in the harnesses that they just wire tie in bundles on the ceilings and the floor. In the same vein, they cant just have unused lines dangling bounding around.

I suspect given the software limitations, Delta decided to forgo with C+ altogether thinking it wasn't needed. Based on flyer feedback after the A350 came out they decided to add back C+ but was too late for the first few 777s. Engineering work had to take place and the new layout had to be approved.
