Looks like they might be finishing refits faster than anticipated. MSP-HND was scheduled to start on 11/16 with 777 suite service, but I'm seeing it start on 11/1 now. I'm on a HND-MSP flight in early November that has been a current style 777 since I booked, but today it was changed to a suite equipped version. Nice bonus if it sticks.

There has been almost no mention of ATL- JNB. Isn't this Delta's longest route? Anyone have any insight as to why it is looking like it may be getting suites later than sooner and when that will likely happen. I'm hoping things will go faster as more are completed and the refit crews gain experience. I'm headed to Jo'burg at the end of May and really don't like the current seats.

It's just not a competitive premium cabin route.

Yes, it's the longest route. That's mostly irrelevant. I think you should expect an unmodified plane unfortunately for your flight.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I'll keep checking back and keep my fingers crossed- hope springs eternal.

SEA-HKG-SEA (B777-200ER) route ends within a weeks time. Will DL send another ER to SIN for upgrade soon after? The only ER routes running then are MSP-HND-MSP and CDG-SEA-CDG.

Just noticed the CDG-SEA-CDG was moved to 77L for a month, then to a 76E (767-300ER) until 2019-03-30, then to a 33H (A330-300HGW) post 2019-03-31. That leaves only the MSP-HND-MSP until it gets the HD (777-200ER) w/upgrade on or around 2018-Nov-01. Guess at that point - DL could send all remaining 777-200ERs to SIN for the conversion.

I doubt that DL has set up that many rework lines and crews

It is but the only other options are (limited SA flights and I have no idea how the product compares) or go to Europe

compared to QF to LAX/SFO/DFW-SYD, LAX-MEL on QF, UA SFO/LAX/IAH to SYD, AA to SYD etc etc. DL/VA have a lot of competition where Jo'berg just doesn't.

any airline is going to try to roll its best product to its most competitive route then it'll roll down hill to little/no competition
sucks if you do a lot of JNB trips but logical overall.

Delta was running 7004 between Orlando and Atlanta last Friday. It was DL 1058, the inbound for DL 1058 and when I deplaned I noticed it was doing another run to Orlando.

Having flown both the A350 and now this reconfig'd 777 in PS, it was interesting that they didn't redo the bins/lights/air nozzles. (why would they if they weren't broken but it quickly reminded me that, although the seats were new, the plane was still old in comparison to the A350.)

It also depends how many slots are available for the mods at SIN. It could be that only two can be modded simultaneously.

7005 did some test hops on the 17th, so should be wrapping up 7HD mods soon:

The first 7HD route is MSP-HND-MSP that begins Nov 1st 2018, based on scheduled times, 2 HDs will be needed for that daily route, which DL will have be then. The following 7HD route begins on Nov 13th and is MSP-CDG-MSP - which appears to need an additional converted 777 at that time - totaling 3. Delta still is not saying much on where the 1st 77L (7HB) converted (N706DN) will be used, maybe as last minute swap-in if any 359's or 7HDs have issues, unless the 77L is going to be used as the 3 out of MSP. Just speculating.

Just my luck, everything out of MSP. Personally I'd rather have the old config than gamble on GUC's with no C+

The only upside would be that middle seats on the 777 have air nozzles in D1 where middle seats on the 350 don't - correct?
