Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

Modifications are taking place at SIN and the entry and exit dates are based on SIN time (GMT + 8 hrs). Comfort + installation was done at ATL on all the 7HD>7CD conversions, and on 7106 (7HB>7CB). The remaining 9 LRs had the C + cabins installed at SIN.

Other routes that moved to the B777-200ER's (to free up for the last 2 "LR" routes) are: LAX-PVG (was "LR" then a 350), LAX-HND (was "LR" then a 350) and ATL-NRT (was "LR" then a 350). Delta's creativity with all of its international aircraft's will hopefully allow them to fulfill their 2 remaining LR routes scheduled to use an upgraded "LR" aircraft by the middle of November...THIS YEAR. The ATL-PVG could use the "ER" as the range of them would work. The ATL-JNB needs to use the "LR" (currently the only DL route that needs the range of the "LR" aircraft), In a "pinch" an "ER" could be used but a fuel stop would be needed to make the destination. Passengers would not like the additional stop (which would probably add around 2 hours to the destination), which would be better than a cancellation. "LR" conversions appear to be taking longer than DL expected them to. I haven't checked Deltas' website to see if ATL-PVG upgraded interior scheduled has been moved to later this year....Next comes the new "LR" service JFK-BOM (beginning December 22, 2019) - the A350 flagship COULD make the leg, but no available (or freed up A/C are available) and using the flagship does NOT fit into Deltas' usage very well. Time will tell how all this plays out.
Whoa whoa whoa. So it just occurred to me that the PM upgrade at booking is now worthless on this segment. So if the budget doesn’t allow for D1 or PS and the extra leg room seats in back are unavailable, My 6’ 4” self is pretty much screwed. Ugh.

Yeah, it's too bad for DM/PM. Delta needs to retrofit a C+ section on the A350 ASAP. The other widebodies are all getting it with the cabin updates.

It's planned. But updating the very tired 767s is first priority

No you aren't. Row 41 A and J have more legroom than any C+ seat would have on the 777 other than 31C and 31G.

I'm not 6' 4'' (only 5' 11'') but I sat on 41A on DTW - ICN last month and had a ton of legroom -- even if I was 5-6 inches taller.

This was me slumped as far down as possible in the seat with my legs as far forward as possible (think like attempted sleeping position), not a normal sitting and watching a movie position. And you can see the set of two in row 40 has a ton of room too

........Well the 764's (B767-400ERs) are first group of B767's to be updated. Delta has 4 or 5 of these 764 retro-birds back into operation and have 3 or 4 out at CAN getting the switch. Delta appears to be staying ahead of the "curve" of its "new interior"d aircraft for the stated route timelines, which cannot be said for the "new interior"d B777-200LR's. The ability to cover the current ATL-PVG and ATL-JNB with these "newbees" just hasn't happened yet and (in just around 2 weeks - December 22nd) Delta is kicking off it's JFK-BOM route (which needs more than 1 of the retro'd LR's, and probably closer to 2). In the three stated R/T legs, DL will be doing some juggling for a while until at least 2 are returned from SIN to satisfy these routes for 100% "new interior-ed" aircraft coverage's. Looks like Delta needs a quick Christmas present! Grinch's welcome????

I assume the A339 deliveries provided some slack that allowed DL to rotate out the 764s for refurb pretty quickly and at volume, but they can't do the same with the 77L since they don't have another plane that can rotate in to cover.

The good news is that only 2 are left in the old config, and as 7103 should exit mods any day (hopefully), presumably one will take its spot. There's a chance no more old configs will be flying by 12/31.

Also, kind of odd to see one on ATL-LIM: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n708dn. Perhaps an indicator it needs to be closer to ATL to ferry for mods?

Confirmed from a source that old configs will be out of service before the end of this month. Wiki updated.

I have 2 flight in J in January on the 777-200, will like to know other FF preference and advise.
On windows seat what are your preference, when your seat are between the shelf and the windows OR have the shelf between the windows and your seat.. ?

I've been in row 4 and row 2. There was an armrest next to the window that would have been nice if could have been lowered. I think I remember reading that the odd rows don't have this armrest, which might be a good tradeoff for being closer to the aisle. The only other advantage I can think of with the seat closer to the aisle is that you can store stuff in front of the table even during takeoff/landing with the suite door open (I don't know if you're *supposed* to be able to but I've never seen an FA make an issue of it on the analogous 763 D1 seats)

One other thing about the A/D seats is that there is a tiny bit of extra space on the outer edge of the pods that I don't remember from the A350 (I assume because the pods are the same but the 777 fuselage is wider?) -- this space might be more accessible from an even row seat than an odd row?
