Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

Modifications are taking place at SIN and the entry and exit dates are based on SIN time (GMT + 8 hrs). Comfort + installation was done at ATL on all the 7HD>7CD conversions, and on 7106 (7HB>7CB). The remaining 9 LRs had the C + cabins installed at SIN.

There was not agreement on which of these two sub-par options were better. Many people found the angled lay flat seats to be awkward and make people feel like they were sliding down, even though you could lat out flat. I personally found DL's BE recliners to be very comfortable for everything except sleeping. I actually found them more comfortable for watching movies and reclining than any of their current products, particularly because the seat padding was much more substantial. All of the current products are rock hard.

I use the Westin quilt under me like a featherbed, and just request a spare blue blanket from the FA if I'm chilly -- Cabins are almost always warmer than I personally like anyway.

I never flew NW's angled flat seats, but had been on plenty of others. I vastly preferred them to any standard recliner I'd been on. Primarily for sleeping, yes, as I could lie on my side or even stomach on the angled flats, but many of them had comfortable cradle positions for daytime relaxing as well (AA's in particular were very customize-able). Perhaps NW's seats didn't. I had been on a few iterations of DL's recliners, but only on 767s; they were particularly narrow I remember.

B777 Premium Select Retrofit Schedule

I've search the fora and Deltas site, but can't seem to find any details on when and what routes PS will debut on B777. I've looking to book some tickets for August (to AMS) in the near future and want to try out the new PS seats.

Can anyone point to where this information exists? I noticed that there are modifications forums for everything, except the B777. I see them for the narrow bodies and the B757, but not the B777.

TIA

Look for an A350 on DL 132, DTW-AMS in August. (Subject to change!)

I know about those, but ATL is more convenient, and cheaper, for us as we are in the Carolina's. I've seen lots of info from the industry folks that PS will come to the B777 Fleet in 2018, but would like to have some idea of the schedule. Don't really want to take a crap shoot to pay for PS and really just get C+ on an international flight. The DW needs to the foot/leg rest for TATL flights and unfortunately J Class is not in the budget for this.

No routes or schedule have been announced. We haven't even seen a seatmap yet. Your options are:

1) Wait
2) Book the A350
3) Book ATL-AMS and pray you get lucky

I'm taking a similar risk on an A350 from ATL to ICN. Supposed to be out end of March, I booked for a month later, should be enough time for them to work out any scheduling issues.

The first 77E is set to go in for mods next month, and take 60-90 days. I doubt they'll do mods over the summer, so you'll have next to zero chance of getting it on the ATL-AMS route in August. If you want it, book the A350...

Connecting from Carolinas to AMS via DTW is a shorter distance than via ATL. ATL has obviously has more flights to the Carolinas than DTW, but unless you are talking some other airport than RDU/CLT, DTW has enough daily flights for reasonable connect times. I see no fare differences when connecting between DTW and ATL other than when you are comparing C+ with PS where it should be obvious why DL charges a fare premium for P/A/G PS fares over W C+ fares (it looks to be about $80 each way). Note those P/A/G premium select fares also get you F on the domestic segment. I'd be pretty confident that the DL132/133 schedules are fixed now with the A350 as DL has been marketing this flight pretty heavily in connection listings. If they were to switch aircraft to a non-PS aircraft (which I would consider unlikely), you would be eligible for refund or downgrade compensation since they are different cabins.

a.net has a Delta widebody tracking thread with some sporadic updates on the 777 retrofit schedule. It looks like the 777-200ERs will be retrofitted before the 777-200LRs, but I don't think there's anything confirming this. The updates are sporadic and spread among lots of other discussion, so the usefulness is (imo) relatively low, but it's the best information I've found so far. According to that thread, N863DA flew to SIN 2/17 and will be there until May for a heavy check and the D1 Suite/PE mod.

We could really use a tracking thread here similar to the ones for the other fleet retrofits, especially now that the first ship is in progress...

Bumping this thread - does anyone have an insight into which 777 route(s) may be first to experience the refurb?

Any 777-200ER route. So look for the first refurbished 777-200ER on MSP-CDG/HND, LAX-HND, SEA-CDG/HKG. Oh yeah and the next 777 to undergo mods will be a 777-200LR. Probably doesn't go in mods as SASCO until June-July. Mods really won't pick up, if at all, until middle of September-end of October. I expect the mods will end up being similar to the A330 mods, which went by quickly and Delta was able to mod most of the A330 fleet, 32 aircraft in total, in the off season. So by this time next year, the 777 mods will be either finished or very close to being finished. Once the 777 mods are finished, then the 764 mods will begin. Yes, Delta will be installing the D1 Suite, PS, and all new seats in Y on the 764. Delta intends to keep those aircraft as long as possible, incidentally they are all younger than the 777-200ER save for one aircraft. Since the D1 Suites are the Thompson Vantage XL instead of the original Thompson Vantage suite, which needs to be repeatedly stated that it is SIGNIFICANTLY and NOTICEABLY wider than the original and a MUCH LARGER footwell, the layout will either be alternating rows of 1-1-1 and 1-2-1 or 1-1-1 for every row. PS should be 2-2-2. I expect the seat count to be smaller whereas on the 777 refurbishment, the seat count is going up by 5 since D1 is being reduced to just 28 seats and EC is eliminated but Y remains 3-3-3. For all of the haters out there, Delta is now and will be in the future, the only North American Carrier with at least 18 inch seats in Intercontinental Widebody Y, and, with the exception of the 777/A350 fleet, the most 2-4-2 and 2-3-2 widebodies. Delta also has the fewest Intercontinental 757s and a good deal of them are doing JFK-SFO/LAX instead of many Deep South America/TATL flights unlike some other airlines.

Either way, its going to be a while until the 767s go in for mods, so things can change. I don't think we've seen any news about an official number of J/P/Y seats.

I hope when UA finishes ruining their 777 fleet with 3-4-3 that Delta will market the sh** out of their economy product. For the money, it will definitely stand out against the competition. All the negative news about airlines lately has been about smaller and more seats. This is a chance for Delta to truly shine to The Kettles.
