Sounds like you've backed yourself into a corner with no margin for error. Interesting strategy.

I'm booked on a DL083 CDG-ATL in early August in D1 and it's showing 28 seats which I understand is the newer config. but that doesn't mean it has the PE seats I guess.

If it's flown by an -ER then it will have the 4-class cabin; if it's flown by an-LR, then you'll need to refer to the WiKi at the top of this thread to see the status of the -LR fleet. Then you'll need to check FR24 to see which aircraft is operating your flight 24 hours before leaving, or DL.com to see the seat map nearer your departure date!

Not really, we are booked in D1, and just hoping for suites.

ATL-JNB-ATL legs will be one of the last "upgraded" routes along with ATL-PVG-ATL legs.....according to DL's schedule - sometime in early 2020. The last time I went out in an attempt to book any one of the previously mentioned legs in 2020-January, the itinerary showed the equipment as a "777" which is Delta's way of saying a non-upgraded B777-200LR's. I might speculate (throw the dice) guessing Delta may upgrade ATL-PVG-ATL before ATL-JNB-ATL for only one reason - the JNB legs are forced to use only the LR versions where the PVG can use ether of Delta's 777 versions (ER or LR).

I realize two LRs are undergoing D1 suite or C+ upgrade but both should RTS soon (hopefully two more in turn will head to SIN/ATL). According to the recent history it appears almost all of the other LR airframes are in some sort of rotation and are being used interchangeably between routes- one will fly PVG-ATL one day and ATL-JNB the next or LAX-ATL one day and ATL-JNB the next. If two LR airframes will continue to be out of service until all receive the upgrade, isn't there a chance the rotation will continue and that there will be a glimmer of hope seeing a D1 suite airframe assigned (randomly?) to the ATL/JNB route sooner or later? Or will the difference in the number of D1 seats, 28 w/suites vs 37 w/o, once some enter service, cause the rotation to change?

Confirmed on a.net that 7002 is getting C+ at ATL.
7106 is apparently going to operate ATL-CDG tonight and should have C+: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n706dn

So N705DN and N706DN are still on track to RTS at the end of this month, and then enter into dedicated LAX-SYD service?

My seatmap for LAX-SYD on 4/5 and SYD-LAX on 5/5 show the D1S seatmap and legend.

So did TechOps install the C + cabin on this frame in less than 65 hours.

Update.... Yes it was done in under 64 hours! Amazing!

7002 is due to exit C + mods on Sunday and re-enter service from ATL>CDG:

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N861DA

So the only frame to be confirmed as having C + installed, albeit at SIN during the D1 Suites mod, is 7008.

Information on good/bad 777 seats

Seat guru still has only the pre mod seat maps. Has anyone seen similar info on good/bad seats for the 4 class 777?

So, when are they going to start modifying the LR's at full pace? There has only been one LR there for the past week! Time to start pumping them out!
