Premium Select lounge access question
So I'm flying YYZ-DTW-NRT in Premium Select. Since my first leg is in first class, does that mean I have access to the Skyclub at DTW? What about on the way back in NRT?
|
AFAIK the transborder Canada flights are considered by DL to be international for the purpose of lounge access, so my *guess* is that you would have lounge access in both directions, assuming same day travel.
|
Your profile states that you are a PM so you should get lounge access any way for being STE+ (assuming your still a PM)
|
If you're still a PM, you should have SC access at DTW as a STE+ member regardless of your class of service as it is same day international. Even if Canada was considered domestic, that benefit does include same-day domestic flights that are connecting onward to international connections. Should work the same way on your return.
I believe you have to be in first or business on the international segment of the itinerary to receive SC access that way, but I have no idea how Premium Select fits in there. |
As long as the transborder flight to/from Canada is a P/A/G FC fare, one would get lounge access even without DL status. Only the Caribbean is excluded for international lounge access. While the over ocean flight on Premium Select is always a P/A/G fare, based on some trial bookings, it looks like the domestic connecting flights of Premium Select fares can sometimes book as FC (P/A/G) fares and sometimes as C+ (W) fares. A Premium Select fare on it's own does not entitle one to lounge access (only D1 fares provide that).

Thanks for the replies. We curious as I'm travelling with a relative with no status and wanted to know if I need to bring her in as a guest.

I thought I'd jump on this thread to ask a follow-up question about a similar itinerary:
I'm flying YYZ-DTW-ICN-SIN in a couple of weeks. My YYZ-DTW is an A fare and the remaining legs are Z (It's all booked as a single ticket). I have no status with Delta but my fare class nets me lounge access. However, when I look up the list of available lounges in YYZ on Delta.com (with "Delta One Cabin Passenger" selected as the "Accessible for"), the only result is the KLM Lounge opposite Gate C32 in Terminal 3. There's a disclaimer that states, "Not Accessible To Passengers Departing On Canadian Domestic Or USA Transborder Flights". So I'm perplexed: My YYZ-DTW flight is a "USA Transborder" flight so I think that means I won't have access in YYZ. But I'm continuing on to ICN after that so does that then qualify me for access? |

You will be allowed SkyClub access in DTW based on your YYZ-DTW in First Class and then onward flight. However, you will not be allowed access in ICN as DL uses the KL lounges there, and their lounge rules apply (which do not recognize the YYZ-DTW in First Class for comp lounge access). |
You will clear US customs in YYZ and then enter the US pre-clearance area at YYZ. The area is separated from the rest of the gates at YYZ which is why you cannot get to the KL lounge. DL uses the KE lounges (not KL) at ICN and you will have access due to your Z fare. You won't have access to the KE First class lounge (reserved for KE FC customers), but there are two other KE lounges where you will have access to at ICN.

<rest of reply snipped but appreciated> But thank you all for weighing in on my question. |
