SkyMiles Devaluation - Nov 1, 2017

US-Canada 1 way "Low" Level:

Coach - Up from 12,500 (or even lower in some cases) to minimum 15,000

First class is now minimum 30,000, up from 25,000.

I'll let others go through the rest to see if this is isolated to 1 region or across the board.

Whatever increases you are seeing are not across the board for US-Canada.

CO-PLAT and manacit like this.

Well then what we're seeing is that they're not using the same regions anymore, or there are new intra-regional variances. I have been searching for flights daily over the past 3 weeks from the western US to eastern Canada. I can assure you that they just increased pricing as stated.

Delta doesn't have an award chart anymore - all pricing is dynamic which might be what you are seeing.

Not all true. Obviously, routes and distance do play a role, but dynamic pricing is probably the cause. Looked at random dates SEA YVR and mileage 1 way was 8500 miles each way. Also searched SEA YUL which requires a connection and resulted in 13250 miles each way.

People can be quicker to use the D-work than they are to do thorough research, which takes intellect and effort.

Here's an example where it was done right. A few data points on award availability & price

Folks let’s re-read the original post. It’s simply a data point on a devaluation on a US-Canada route that now costs more than it did prior to Nov 1. Perhaps it’s now that connections cost more than directs between these countries. Not sure - hence the post to bring attention to the situation and see if others have seen similar increases in other regions. Well aware of “dynamic” pricing going on at Delta and the lack of mileage chart, hence all we can do as a community is share these things to bring attention to it.

You were the one that said that US-Canada is up on a general statement and it took seven minutes to show it wasn't true. I took the "region" statement to include all those routes but maybe you just meant that particular "market."

Exactly. 1 route may have changed pricing. Uncertain whether this is a temporary or permanent change, as OP hasn't even given the route.

The thread title is misleading and I think moderators should close/merge this thread.
