Why reconfigure them? Now they can be used on both route domestic or international. Change it and no longer can use internationally.

More seats. The 26J 767s only have 226 seats while the domestic 767s have 268. I doubt that DL will ever do this though. FWIW, the SLC-HNL flight which has always been on a wide-body, typically a domestic 767 in the summer and an A330 in the winter, was downgraded to a 75H for this summer season.

Whats also awful are the three decades of farts on the seats ;)

Honestly, besides the overhead bins the planes are quite pleasant to fly on (especially in Y). My biggest gripe is that these plans were skipped over for 2Ku internet (for obvious reasons) and so it's a massive plane with 268 seats all fighting over 4 megabits of air-to-ground cell-based WiFi. It is practically unusable if you are flying at any time that has even a few business travelers. Even e-mail will barely sync if you have any large attachments.

They are definitely showing their age. Even the exterior paint job is starting to show significant wear (chipped paint all around the engines) - which is rare for Delta planes. I flew ATL-SLC (probably on the same flight as @TuxTom) and the blind was missing from one the exit row seats. My seatmate sitting at the window fashioned a temporary blind using the safety card and menu that worked well.

Why the side trip to Savannah? Strange routing? Charter?

Hunter Army Airfield to March Air Reserve Base would certainly be indicative of a military charter. Flight history of 8965 also shows past military charter work.

Good riddance!

Will we be seeing the remaining domestic 763 on ATL-ANC this summer like we have in years' past?

3Cforme Apr 22, 2019 6:31 pm

Looking at a couple of dates in July I see DL 1555 as a domestic F 757.

During its younger, and much dirtier days.... https://www.airliners.net/photo/Delt...767-332/299124

Clearly DL had financial problems back then if they kept their jets looking like that!

ChamplinAl Apr 22, 2019 8:40 pm

Will DL use one of the remaining 76W (767-300ER's) to run the twice daily ATL-SLC round trips from now on or have the legs be done with A321's or B757's or ???

I thought the day would never come! While domestic widebodies are always fun, this bird was well past its prime.

Will be interesting to see if the other one follows suit shortly or lasts a while longer...

Seem like A321 starting today replacing 763.

Is N1402A being retired too? It's flying ATL-SVN-RIV today https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n1402a
