Hidden Award Sale?
Haven't done much testing, but seeing some surprisingly friendly pricing on PDX-JFK in July for 12,000 OW per person with plenty of availability.

Seeing the nonstop SEA-JFK flight available for 10,000 OW.

Aren't standard awards still 12.5k each way? 500 mile discount?

No award sale. Many threads on sub-12.5K domestic awards (there have been ones as low as 3.5K) around here for the last couple years. You can do JFK-YVR/YYC/etc. for 9K and many NYC-Florida routes are 5.5K.

NYC-Florida and NYC-Seattle are two *very* different deals. I've never seen JFK-YVR for 9k.

Nope, there are many sub-12.5K one-way domestic coach award levels. There have been ones as low as 3.5K, more recently they seem to start at 5.5K. Levels vary in 500 mile increment and level is identified in fare code.

I know about the sales, but just saying, making a new thread for a "12k" sale for a route that is 12.5k OW seemed like a stretch.

I've never seen below 5k yet for a OW. I do like these discounted awards, as it's a good way to get rid of some of my orphaned DL miles.

Guess, you don't do much searching. Canada awards for 9K have been around for some time now. Granted, you probably aren't going to find these during peak demand periods.

Again, these aren't "sales" (like the monthly 48 hour flash sales), they are on-going award rates. They have a 3-week advance purchase and availability will be limited or non-existent during higher demand periods. The 3.5K (YSMS035) awards were available about a year and half ago on inter-west routes like SFO-LAX. More recently, these inter-west routes have been in the 5K - 5.5K range.

Well, I learned something new. I do also think JFK-SEA for 10k in July is probably worth noting more so than JFK-YVR for 9k in December.
