what is going on in ATL. Pilot said security ground stop

Not according to liveATC.net. Landings and takeoffs taking place as normal.

Passenger said there is a fire in concourse D?

Flightaware says "Hartsfield-Jackson Intl (KATL) is currently experiencing all inbound flights being held at their origin until Friday at 05:15PM EDT due to security."

Word on the street is a "security issue" at Atlanta Center that caused them to evacuate

Captain announced ground stop on our flight. We are holding at the gate waiting for new take off slot.

Is it a coincidence that there is also a groundstop until 5:15 PM at CLT due to "security"?

Not if it's an issue at Atlanta Center which also handles CLT.

Pilot just announced that this is due to security threat directed at air traffic control center. Not the airport itself. Waiting to here when ground stop will be lifted.

Oh boy this is bringing back memories to July when I got stuck in DCA due to toxic fumes coming into ZDC (Washington Center) which was evacuated for three hours. Hopefully this won’t last as long as that did.

The update... arrivals are starting to be permitted at 4:10 CEntral time
