And since then, while I've seen plenty of people look around the cabin, I've never heard anyone utter a single phrase about it.
When I travel solo or with the wife, I almost never hear anything as well.

However, if we're bringing our pre-school kids, we almost always get someone telling us the kids are too old to preboard in zone PREM.

Getting four upgrades together is hard, even at DM. Clearly if anyone sits in the back, it ends up being me. I have on occasion heard people talking about the two kids up front as they pass the forward cabin. But never anything beyond a "they look so tiny" or "look at the space they're wasting". Never any sort of jealousy or such. Just random chitchat.

Not words exactly.

Sitting in 1C, smiled at this woman as she walked by. Got the world's biggest eye-roll.

The stupidest thing....

Might even have been from a Flyertalk.com member.

Man stops at Row 1 and asks the passengers how they got a First Class seat since "I was at the top of the upgrade list" (I can't hear responses) Comes to row 2 with the same question. (My response, "really, my name was first, how did you jump me" He then does admit "well I might have been 2nd or 3rd on the list, but someone took my seat and it's probably someone who wasn't entitled to it" Passenger next to me "I am old and rich I paid for this seat" FA shoves her way past other passengers and escorts the "wronged" passenger who was denied his upgrade to his rightful seat before he can quiz the entire cabin!

That behavior should result in termination of medallion status. Ridiculous.

A different but the same scenario. Getting on an elevator at a Hilton I said "excuse me" as I reached past someone to tap my key card on the reader to get to the Executive Lounge floor. They responded with, "Wow, that must mean you're important". I replied, "No, it means I spend over 180 nights a year in a hotel". Their jaw hit the ground and all of a sudden they were happy to get off on a lower floor.

I've done this, got a €250 upgrade offer at OLCI for a 10-hour TA flight on a 747-400. Took it without hesitation.

My colleagues decided not to (boss pays up to economy comfort, rest is up to yourself). Senior purser thought it was funny and relayed to them that I was very comfy on the upper deck at mid-flight while serving them a biz-class drink from me ;-)

Another I remember was on a DL domestic flight that I paid on an upgrade for.
10 year old boy walks by fully bug-eyed and goes to his dad: "Woooooow those seats look comfy..", I replied with a "Save up them miles kid, you can sit in these as well then"

But I think the nose of the NW 747-100 in Air and Space has the original BarcaLounger seats. It been a while, but I think you enter through the upper deck just behind the cockpit and can walk down the spiral staircase.

Wow! Hilton is really hosing you if you have to stay 180 nights to get to the executive floor. It only takes me 30 stays

Once, after business had boarded and the economy folks were let on, a woman came through J and gave her row number out loud to her companion and then said (moderately snotty tone), "Check and see if we're in the front row...oh wait, we're not, because we didn't pay an extra thousand dollars!" She was more or less looking in my direction when I looked up, so I said, in mock-helpful way, "Oh, I didn't pay an extra thousand dollars either; Delta upgraded me for free, because they value my business. You should ask about joining their SkyMiles Program. The free upgrades are a great perk!"

A chuckle went through business but she did not share in the frivolity....

I definitely don't dress the part usually wearing flip flops and basketball shorts in the summer, and I'm also pretty young. I sit in F mostly upgrades as PM. Once someone walked looked at me, looked at his wife, and murmured "parent's credit card buying his way into F"
I just looked at him, and replied "upgraded as a frequent flier, enjoy your zone 3 seating"
cestmoi123 and KDCAflyer like this.

I don't know ... I find that my fellow F/J passengers are usually more obnoxious. Like Mr. "IT'S NICE TO HAVE STATUS!!!!" (yelled and repeated three separate times during a recent flight...)

Apparently I miss out on such delightful exchanges since I am running music to my AirPods + using the iP or am watching a movie if they start the IFE early.

I admit to thinking this on a very regular basis when I've been upgraded... I'm not sure I've ever said it out loud, though =p
