It's interesting that they did some fly-overs with the A350 at CVG. It will never operate there and I'm not a fan of the plane but it is nice that they remembered CVG. That is one nice improvement since Bastian took over.

They painted DELTA on its belly! This is more extreme than just painting the bellies of aircraft in DL blue.

Seems likely CVG was chosen because it's an underutilized airfield for its capacity, rather than for any plans to use or advertise the A350 there.

CX is using a far-superior J seat. They have the newest rendition of the Reverse Herringbone. Delta went cheap on the seat using a better version of the 767 (very unpopular) J seat. BUT! you will get a rather useless plastic door!

That's nothing new! I bet there are several dozen aircraft in DL's fleet that now have "DELTA" painted on the belly! You make it sound like you think this is the first to have it!

If that were the only requirement they could have taken it to SDF, GRR, FNT, LEX. You may not realize it but CVG is also a hub for DHL and Amazon Prime Air. It is hardly a sleepy airport.

IIRC the third parallel runway was finished in 2005 (fourth overall), with DL going into bankruptcy, after 9/11, and just waiting for the schedule cuts. There's definitely some excess capacity .

SDF in particular would be a pretty poor alternative - UPS keeps it very, very busy...
