Quick rookie question on cancelling refundable flight

Couldn't find a quick answer on this: if you use Delta.com to cancel an upcoming flight on a fully refundable fare, does the flight refund automatically when cancelled or does it reissue as an eCredit?

a fully refundable fare can go back to the original form of payment.

Thanks for the reply.

Can or will? Wondering what the default behavior on Delta.com is, not what's possible.

Still need to request the refund. (Can be done online for most tickets, but requires filling out tje refund request) Otherwise if its a non-refundable fare (and past free cancel period) it should show up as an ecredit.

It should default to original form of payment as refund. I've cancelled online many without issues

If indeed it is fully refundable, then it will credit to the original form of payment.
