I checked in to the outbound of a round trip BE fare in delta app, and after getting seat assignments, I switched seats, at which point the seat selection tool advanced to my return flight next week. Curious. When I picked a seat, I was given the opportunity to select a main cabin seat for $29. I’ve never seen this before, and I can’t replicate by going to My Trips, only by going through the Today tab. Question is, if I pay the $29 to select a seat, is all I get a seat assignment, or would the return be upgraded out of BE? Anyone have experience with this? In this case it is a CRJ200, so a seat assignment is of no value, but if the fare was actually upgraded to a main cabin, then it could be of some value (for instance, SDC purposes).

BE will often let you select your seat for an additional $29 by going into My Trips. But the ticket still stays as a use-it-as-is or lose it BE.

They could always bribe someone to switch seats... probably the only way to get someone to take a middle seat.

I can't come up with what bribe I'd need to be offered to take a middle seat on a 4hr flight especially considering I choose my seats at booking.
