[QUOTE=kjnangre;28187284]I just got my first Delta A350-900, ship 3501. I plan to fly it domestically for about a month for crew training, before moving it to DTW-Asia routes

Hopefully you didn't pay list price and were there any government subsidies for the manufacturer??

Thankfully I don't see DL going 9x on the A350s, simply because the extra capacity isn't needed. The extra weight would also cut down on range, and would only make sense if DL was sure to always have high loads with these planes.

No Suites
No suites on the new metal. It will probably be nice but we are not taking anything like the A380s that the Gulfies use.

I wouldn't underestimate the fact that Airbus may have been much more generous with their discounts to DL in order to secure an American carrier. Other elements may also have been at play related to the A319/20/21s and the 330s. Giving credit for service, parts, or other ownership related costs are pretty common in large equipment sales since it allows more revenue to be reported against the new order and hides the discounts elsewhere.

Some people object to the marketing term DL uses, but most don't seem to have a problem with B6 calling some of the Mint seats Suites because of basically the same little door.

I flew Cathay's A340 from MNL-HKG, and the A350 from HKG-MNL. The A350 with 3-3-3 seating was cramped and the seat uncomfortable. The entertainment system was nice. The older A340 with a 2-4-2 seating was overall more comfortable. Fortunately the actual flight time was under 2 hours. It will be interesting to compare the 2-4-2 seating on the 767 to the A350s when they actually arrive. Will the A350 coach be less painful than the coach sardine can class of a 787?
