More like a 10 meter walk over the tarmac. The total distance is more or less the same as when using a normal jetway. The stairs might cause troubles for some pax At least SP kind of works in those situations.

Do you mean the gates where the aircraft is parked right there, but there's no jetway, so you walk out into a jetway like thing, walk down the stairs, go outside and walk over the tarmac for maybe 50 meters and then walk up the stairs into the aircraft? It's not much better than a bus gate.

The "dual gate" is divided into two corridors. One leads you down to the tarmac where you walk 20 feet to the aircraft (if the tarmac gate is being used). The corridor for the other gate leads you down to a waiting bus which shuttles you over to an aircraft way yonder.

I was at B32 today which is a tarmac gate. B30 would be the corresponding bus gate.

Just an update. Landed about 10 minutes early, but taxied forever, and then some. Made the connection with about 10 minutes to spare. Was a tarmac gate. Biggest issue was passport control. Really long lines , with three positions open. I looked, and did not see an "close connection" line, but nevertheless line moved pretty quick, and luggage even made it to PRG!
Thanks for the help everyone!

Nice to hear, thanks for the update.

I recently had a ~50 minute connection in AMS and it was definitely tight. I didn't have to go through additional security at the gate however as I had in the past, so that helped. There was a 'tight connection' line but it moved very slowly...

There was a SkyPriority lane for immigration into Schengen before AMS renovations. I didn't notice it yesterday.

Good thing about AMS is they got rid of additional security checks for most connecting passengers. Arrived from US and only had to go thru immigration.

I had 70 minutes last week and my bags didn't make it. Took 48 hours for my baggage to get from Amsterdam to Edinburgh and delivered to my hotel.

For the last 16 months, I've been very unpleased with KLM. In the old days of Northwest, the transition between NWA and KLM seemed to seemingness. Now, not so much. Not only has Delta had difficult assigning seats on paid, business-class airfares, but I've had flights where my connecting segment on KLM didn't include business-class despite KLM having empty business-class seats. Lately, I've been avoiding Amsterdam as I find Air France to be better intra-Europe. Plus, the lounge at AMS is way too crowded. It's like a cafeteria. The only good part is the champagne.

Worse yet, is there is no "premium" lane at AMS for business-class passengers transversing passport control. However, I've found one can skip most of the line by using the Privium lane. I think Privium is the Dutch version of U.S. Global Entry. The difference between is you can skip the line and re-join it before the passport control booth to save a lot of time.

I agree it makes absolutely no sense you can't assign/change seats on KL flights 48 hours to departure. However, I much prefer to connect at AMS than CDG.
